The D610 is still a good full frame camera even by today's standards. Sure, you can get a smaller Nikon Z6 full frame mirrorless at more than twice the price, but your photo's wont be that much better.

Very true, The newer cameras have better auto focus and more advanced electronics but for general photography use, there just isn't a lot of difference between older full frame 24MP to new full frame 24MP when it comes down to the final image output.

Is anyone still using the D610 or recently purchased one in 2019?
What do you like about it?
I have read mostly great reviews, but some not so great reviews about the video capabilities, which I don't care about. I am switching to a full frame for real estate and abandoned property photography. Looking at used equipment.

Thanks

The D610 will function for you. The D750 may be a better choice. Nikon is offering 10% off refurbished right now so for about $900.00 you can get one.

Here's a very recent article on the D610 from PetaPixel.

I have a D610 and a D750. Use both mostly for portraits. Both produce beautiful photos. Can't tell much difference between the two, honestly, but I'm almost always lighting my subjects with OCF, so low-light noise isn't really an issue.

I currently have the D600 with a super low shutter count (2973) that I picked up for just $420 on ebay. I checked the serial number for the free shutter replacement from Nikon and I qualify. The D600's got a bad wrap for shutters that leaked oil on to the sensor causing spotty images but it was only a few cameras that were affected.

Nikon has a free replacement program (good until 1/10/2020, link here: https://www.nikonusa.com/en/service-and-support/service-advisories/updated-technical-service-advisory-for-users-of-the-nikon-d600-digital-slr-camera.html)

Basically after sending the camera back to Nikon I get a free shutter replacement, free sensor replacement (if required), full inspection, clean, lube and adjust and free shipping to and from Nikon. I get a new camera with a shutter count of "Zero" just for checking the serial number and sending it in. The only difference in the D600 to the D610 is 0.5 FPS on shooting high speed continuous mode and a different logo.

I absolutely love my D600 and it's lighter and smaller than my workhorse crop sensor D300s. I've picked up some older auto focus lenses from film days and most are sharper and better made than the new plastic lenses. I also shoot real estate and have a great Tokina 20-35mm f/3.5-4 that I picked up at Goodwill for $45. The other lenses are Nikon from various eras but all are razor sharp and at 24 megapixels I have more than enough resolution for any job. Currently the D600 is ranging from $350-500 on ebay. Just ask the seller for a photo of the bottom plate showing the serial number and check the link above for the replacement service. The D600s with super high shutter counts go for lower cost but it would be a bargain for you as a free shutter with CLA is such a good deal. I'm looking for a second D600 body before the deadline as having two zero time shutter cameras would last me a lifetime.

Good luck in getting one and if you have any questions just ask.

Not knowing the extras it's hard to say. Do you have to purchase new? For 900.00 you can get a d750. I would buy a used d610 with 50mm lens. You should be able to find on CL for 700 or less. I purchased my d610 with same lens with only 6,000 on shutter for 450.00.

No. I don't have to purchase new. I can't afford a D750 and a lens. $900 is my top budget.
Here is the link to the deal so that you can see the extras.

That's a pretty good deal considering the battery pack. With that being said, do you need a battery pack? Most people don't unless you're going to be shooting for many hrs. I personally would not buy that package. I still think you're better off buying a used d610 on ebay or CL. You will save a ton. I will look around for you. Bryan

Thank you Bryan. I will not be shooting for hours. So I appreciate the information. I had hoped to not spend that much anyway.

I think it's a bit high and most of the time the "extras" are tossed in for quantity not quality. Like I stated before the D600 is not that much different from the D610 and Nikon is still offering the free shutter replacement as well as a full CLA (clean, lube and adjust). I picked up my D600 on ebay for $420, a 50mm f/1.8 D for $40 on craigslist and a Tokina 20-35mm at shopgoodwill.com for $50. So for just a bit more than $500 I have a great system. I have other full frame lenses from the sources listed above for no more than an additional $150 and I need nothing else.(unless I have a GAS attack). Look around and you'll see bargains everywhere that are right under your nose. Just this afternoon I picked up a Nodal Ninja 3 Mk II for just $45 on craigslist. Owner picked it up at an estate sale as part of a camera package. He's just selling parts of the kit to pay for what he wants to keep. That same item ranges from $155 to $300 online so there are deals to be had. If you feel you might make a mistake on a deal remember ebay has buyer's protection and you could always have lenses tested at a camera shop before a purchase. Keep in mind that the camera body will go down in value rapidly while lenses (especially older metal body types) will either lose little value, hold value or go up in value. Look at the camera comparison here for the D600 vs. D610 and you'll see what I'm taking about where they are really both the same camera.

Like I said before I LOVE my D600 and it will last me for years and years. I'm happy with the lenses I have and they are wonderful. I hope you can find a great deal like I have. If I see any good deals (with serial numbers in the recall) I'll post the links here.

The Craig’s list around here is full of overpriced items. No bargains that I can find. I did get a bargain off of the Craig’s List in St Louis several years back. A (MF) Nikkor 20mm F4 for $35.
