Dreaming... of you...

The more I look at this image the more I appreciate how attention to small details can make a big difference to the final look. I am referring specifically to the pose of her left leg.
Imagine the result if her left heel had been placed solidly on the base. The line from the the knee down the the shin to the top of her foot would then have been concave upward, leading the viewer's eyes away from the subject and to the edge of the frame to... nothing. As posed, the line from her leg drops downward at the top of her foot. This draws the eyes of the viewer down to the table and back toward the model via the shadow of her leg on the table. Further, having the ankle in plantar flexion accentuates the curve of the calf, much like wearing high heels, and really brings out the lovely smooth curves of the female body.
I don't think making changes to other aspects of the pose would be as significant. For example, I think she could have put her head or even her hands in several different positions and it would still be a great photo. I really am struck by how that leg position is the make/break element... for me, anyway.
Beautiful and very tasteful.
Thanks JohnFrim
