Open fire on this one...
I sort of like the idea but do not like the capture.
I did some PP on it but this is not the place to post it.
I do not mind severe criticism.
One is likely the exposure or over exposure of it.
Posted a JPG, the PNG is too large.

For this to work I think the amount of overlap of the flower by the leaves is critical. I would suggest just small amounts round the edge of the flower. The way the leaf stubs protrude is a bit too intrusive. But as an image it is quite evocative. Not just another autumn leaves shot and not just another faded rose shot. And the water suggests a washing away (with the passage of time).

A very "busy" picture ..., my eye travels around the scene landing on various spots. In PhotoShop I cropped some off the right side to get the bloom more off center; to sharpen slightly, in UNSHARP MASK I set "amount" to 50% and "radius" to 35 pixels; in HUE/SATURATION I set yellow and red to -25, I burned the left side even more. These settings gave what looks to me to be a nice picture. All monitors are different so this may, or may not, appeal to everyone. I'm not sure if I am allowed to post my PhotoShop results so I holding off until permission is granted.
PP is cropping square.
I also did some adjustment but for some reason I think I am putting lipstick on a pig...

This is how I see it.
What drives me up the wall is the noise.
I probably need to check the centering....

For me it is flat both in perspective and lighting. I would not have shot it from directly above, but at an angle to see the fallen flower higher than the bed of leaves. Likewise I would have lit it from behind to get some translucence of the petals with highlighting of their edges.

It looks like a background shot here. I would try brightening the flower some. To be the draw, say as hope in a bleary field. Another, sharpen the flower and blur the leaves.
For me the entire photo seems to be muddy. I can't come up with a better way of saying it and I use that term to describe some of my own photos. The photo has clear dark and white subjects but the white doesn't stand out as it should. Close examination reveals that the flower has its own flaws of brown in the petals as if the flower is dying.

The blossom flaws are what attracted my attention. Its time was passed and a rain storm took it down. I was interested in the decay in some ways.

OK. Maybe the flaws from the blossom plus the brown in the rest of the photo gave it just too much of a dreary atmosphere.

I posted another version of this somewhere else. Here it is.

If you cropped it and made the flower a lot bigger I would like it more.
