The Sun is massive in comparison to the tiny dot of Mercury in these images. But consider that the small planet is still 35 million miles from the Sun. Itβs difficult to fathom the size of our Sun. And it is just a mediocre size star.

You're right. If you were able to put Mercury at the surface of the sun, we wouldn't be able to see it.
Most people never really try to comprehend these facts because there are too many important things to think about.
