Is she aa very large cat? Maine Coon are normally very large, over 20 lbs. She could have some MC genes, more likely a Siberian or a Norwegian Forest cat. The Norwegian breed loves water and would explain the ventures into the rain. Either way a beautiful addition to your family. Enjoy your new master!

She is not that large but has enormous feet and is getting heavier by the week as my wife attends to her culinary requirements lol!

We recently inherited this cat called Esther from a neighbour who could no longer cope. To us she does resemble a Maine Coon - she loves to be outside and even ventures out in heavy rain and comes back soaked but does not seem to mind.
She is very lovable and loves to play - but, of course, on her own terms.

Welcome any comments as to whether she is a Maine Coon.

Thanks

Bill

Sure looks like one. Is it large for a cat and does it have an almost dog-like personality?

Looks like has a lot of Maine Coon in her. We have a similar-looking cat we adopted as a stray 12-14 years ago. Wonderful cats. Big! With huge paws. Ours is around 20 pounds. He likes to just hang out with ‘his people’.

She is beautiful. Thank you for being so kind to take in the cat as your own. I have a cat that loves the outdoors. She has 2 acres to run around in. And yes, she does come in to eat and sleep. She will only let you pet her for a few seconds. Well maybe a minute or two. We love her.

It could be part Maine Coon but I think they are much larger with lots of fuzzy fur. Sounds like she has allowed you to adopt her!

Thanks merry - her given name by her previous owner is Esther and we have decided to stay with that - my wife is much closer to her, female solidarity lol! ) and she does seem to recognise her name when my wife calls her.

She is very independent and very single-minded when she wants something. Maybe dog-like personality is appropriate. We couldn't get her in last nigh even though it was raining heavily - she was rooting around in a bush within the garden - we suspect she either had a mouse or a shrew in her grip and totally ignored our calls - eventually came in very late and in her own time lol!!

Sounds just like ours - she wanders off to different parts of our development area.
