I've used a black rapids strap for years and I'm happy with it.

I’m looking for a professional system that allows me to carry camera over the shoulder and not around the neck. Do they make such an item

I never remove any straps from any of my cameras, if I mount to a tripod, I never ever have!

I started having back and neck pain. Stopped using the straps that came with my Canon cameras and started using Op/Tech straps... the pains went away, for the large part. I still get tired at the end of a long day shooting with two cameras... but it's nothing an ibuprofen or two can't handle.

Some Op/Tech straps have a quick release that you can remove most of the strap while the camera is on a tripod. It leaves a short piece connected to the camera. You can even buy extra ends and use a single strap with several different cameras, if you wish.

I don't remove the trap while on a monopod... As a safety precaution I keep it around my neck. I usually leave it on while on a tripod too... just wrap it around to keep it out of the way. But, if I want to it's quick and easy to remove the Op/Tech straps.

Op/Tech also sells Velcro "safety straps" that can be installed around the quick release connectors for extra security.

I don't know why the straps manufacturers include with their cameras are so uncomfortable. They must be aware of it... over the years Canon Professional Services has sent me a couple "upgrade" straps. Those were Op/Tech straps too, imprinted with the CPS logo. Not sure which model of strap, but they're even nicer ("cushier") than the Op/Techs I bought myself.

Made my own from horse reins. Instead of the usual black nylon, i know have two wonder leather straps.

The camera fastener is a manually screwed unit but the entire strap us custom. I also hD go wash out the stain used in the tanning pricess.

With that body and lens, the carrying strap should be attached to the lens foot.
When I carry my 100-400+1.4x on a body, I attach one strap to the lens foot and one strap to the L plate on the camera.

My RRS L plate has a QD socket, so I use that as a single point attachment on the bottom of the camera.
I have an early model RRS lens foot which lacks the QD socket of the current model, but I found a QD socket online and added it to the side of the lens foot.

The straps each thread both ends of the webbing through ~ 1' wide QD steel sling connectors, and connect / disconnect with the push of a button. No plastic.

Lens strap goes over shoulder, camera strap goes around my neck.
Rig hangs upside down, under my left arm, lens pointed to the back.

Perfectly positioned for good protection and ready to grip with right hand, the camera swings up to eye without any restrictions..
Straps hang out of the way in shooting position.

Load is carried by the lens strap and the camera straps limits the rig's movement while walking.

Body and lens each hang from their own strap, so lens changing is easier, (both hands free).
Dovetails have room to attach to tripod heads without removing straps first.

Check out the "Altura" "Rapid Fire" cross body camera Strap, your camera sits comfortably on your Hip, slides up and down safety attachment. Works great!!

I give a another recommendation for OP/Tech camera straps. I bought one from B&H 2 years ago, to replace my Nikon strap. I wanted an inexpensive strap with a padded neck. OP/Tech came through. And the price was right.

I am quite happy with my Panny GX8 original camera strap. I wear it across right shoulder so that the camera sits above my hip on left side. While hiking/walking I slide it round a bit so that the camera sits above and behind my left elbow, This protects camera from knocks on rock or tree. I used to carry two G series cameras - one went to the left as above and one went to the right. well protected, well balanced. This method will go under a loose fitting anorak in adverse weather. Nowadays with a single camera, extra kit goes in anorak pockets ( lens, batteries etc and sometimes speed light). WARNING - WILL NOT CURE GAS !! Ok for monopod not so good for tripod, but carrying and setting up tripods is a chore anyway. If using a tripod - carry a bag !

I use this strap when shooting sports. Safe, secure easy to use and a very decent price too.

I use the Peak design Clutch wrist strap and the Peak design strap. The system is secure and permits rapid removal for tripod use or to use their fast catch. It comes with a proprietary acra Swiss base plate that works with their gear. Very functional and versatile.

I have OP/TECH USA Cross Body Straps on all of my cameras. They spread out the load, will not slip off of your shoulder and support my DSLRS even when mounted with my Canon 28-300mm lens. When on travel I can use them all day long w/o discomfort.

Yes! They make an assortment of products, and they all snap together.
