As R.G said, the road leads the eye up to the barn... Maybe just leaving the orig. road and bringing the barn a little closer to the 2nd. image. Either way, don't you just love working on older images just to see ..... I know I do !

There was no road in the original. I put that in.

I've just picked up on that .

OK, let me rephrase - with the road in the foreground and the barn boosted a bit, it would have been lifted to another level .

(That is a barn, isn't it?..... ).

I took this on as a challenge to myself. My original shot below #2, is a disaster photo-scenically. After several hours into it in Photoshop this top one came out. Not sure if the result was worth the time or if I should just pick lower hanging fruit to work on.

I like the bottom one as it looks for realistic or natural.

I’d say you took the fallen apples and made delicious cider!

I don't dislike any of the photos but I can't help but wonder IF you had chosen a different time of the day to photograph the barn that the shadows would not have needed, "fixing". Of course we often do not get to pick other times of the day to take photographs.

Still well done on the first and second photos.

I agree. I know what you are saying. That's the thing to do. Come back at a different time.
When I start retouching I get a little OCC.

In your final image, I reckon that he red is too rich, you could add a wee bit of cloud in the sky
which is too blue in the first instance and bring out detail on the front end of the barn.

I love the first one because I love strong colors. Your PP work was great.
I love the third one because I love the "cartoon" nature of the PP work.
The second one might not be your favorite, but it provided the basis for both one and three.
Not a bad one in the bunch!!!
