Question-is there a button that can be changed to show last photo taken? The D7100 allowed for the PV button to do that. I have looked as best I can without finding that option.

If you mean the one you just took, press the arrow next to the trash can. From there you can scroll using the D pad. If you mean to see each image after you shoot it, choose "image review on" in the playback menu.

Right. I know the arrow will bring up the last photo. I was wanting to change PV button to do that function. I had that option in my D7100 and gotten used to using that button for replay and like it. Just wondering if there is a way that I can’t find to change that PV button. No big deal. Just curious.

I misunderstood. Go to {Custom Setting Menu} {f Controls} {f1 Custom control assignment} {Select Pv and scroll to the Playback Symbol on the fourth page and click OK.

I get about 1300 shots on a battery. If that helps?

Yup.... I get about 1200 to 1400 per charge. I don't chimp but for the 1st few shots. Once my settings are nailed, monitor stays off. Among other battery drainers.

I have been using Nikon D7100 and love the camera. I have grandkids that play indoor sports. The D7100 struggles a bit with indoor gym lighting and using higher ISO settings. Well, I just got the Nikon D500 and used it for a Butler University volleyball game last Sunday! Whoa, what a difference. I am just learning this camera so I am hoping to improve photo quality even more. Example, I thought I adjusted the WB for the florescent lighting....forgot to hit the designated ok button and didn't change the WB! I was using the Auto WB setting and the darn camera was pretty much nailing it. I am so happy with this camera. If you are on the fence, I hope you can take the leap. I don't think you will be disappointed. Many pros about this camera...that being said...I have so far one con...I am not liking the battery life for sure. Anyway, just my humble opinion about the Nikon D500...

Could always add the verticil grip with the extra battery. Enjoy your new camera.

The D500 is very similar to the D5 only it’s a crop sensor camera and the D5 is full frame.

I love my D500. I've had no battery life issues.
I generally use auto ISO/WB. The D500 nails it about 95% of the time.

,me to!

Are you using the same battery you have used in your D7100? If so it's the wrong battery.

I have found the battery power just fine, I shoot wildlife every morning in Florida Wetlands and usually shoot at 10 fps.
According to the CIPA-rating, the Nikon D500 can take 1240 images on a single charge. Given the relatively demanding energy usage of the CIPA procedures, this rated number should be achievable or be surpassed in most practical situations.

According to the Nikon website, this battery is compatible with both the D500 and D7100.

Bob, Congratulations on your new camera. Sounds like you're having a great time learning it. Good luck and many, many great shots to come.

Beat me to it. Once done, I can shoot up to 1200 shots on one battery!

With the in camera battery Nikon only claims 7 FPS. By adding the grip and an MB-D18 battery they claim 9 FPS. These figures are at full resolution. Do you get 10 FPS by shooting with an MB-D18 battery in crop mode?

I often shoot 10fps without the grip?
