I have been asked to join a golf trip to Cornwall this August. We will arrive thru Dublin to Newquay and stay at St Ives, Woolacombe, Rock / Padstow. I was thinking of walking along the coast and shooting early and late in the day given we will play middle of the day. Is this practical and are there any best views in the area?
And following the Cornwall visit we go back thru Dublin and I was hoping for a few days along the Irish coast too. Any suggestions for locations? I was thinking two spots to stay a few days in each spot.
Ideas appreciated.

Being you will be on the North Coast of Cornwall I don't think you will be disappointed with any of the coastal views. If you get to Woolacombe you will be in Devon. Woolacombe Bay Beach also played a part in the D Day Normandy Landings as thousands of American troops trained there due to the resemblance to Omaha beach in Normandy.
(The head quarters of the Assault Training Center were based at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel)
There is a monument there you may like to see. I hope this helps. I am sure you will have a great time and great golf.

You'll get some great photos if you head for Bedruthan Steps which isn't far from where your staying.We went last year........its a great walk with some really spectacular views......Google it.....

There is a Coastal footpath all around the South West peninsula. A lot of is very photogenic, and some more mundane area's will challenge the good snapper, but generally it's good all round. Take a look at this guide and check out sun position on the empheris.

Yes, I hiked that when I lived in London 10 years ago. But that was before I took pictures.

A visit to Tintagel is well worthwhile if the weather cooperates. There is an amazing old former Post Office building in the town (at least I think that was it's purpose), but as usual it takes some creativity to get a shot without traffic interference. If you have the stamina to hike down to King Arthur's castle ruins, you will be rewarded, but with the right zoom/tele, you may capture images of it from the grounds of the luxury hotel.
You will find shots worth taking, everywhere you go in Cornwall, but most of all, make sure you enjoy the amazing fresh caught seafood.

Would recommend Clifden, Connemara - plenty of photo ops and great music in the Clifden Town Centre.

Take a drive around the Dingle peninsula. Of course Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. Don’t forget a Guinness along the way. West coast Ireland photogenic every mile

john.just got back from couple of weeks in ireland. about a 30-40 min drive north of dublin is small fishing village of Howthe.very picturesque but the main reason to go is the lighthouse.overlooks dublin bay. serene walk along a path gives you plenty of opportunity for photos.also great seafood places to eat.try wrights of howthe right on the pier. 90 min south of dublin are the wicklow mountains.thats the place where a hbo series "viking"was filmed. again endless photo ops abound..stop in glendalough at st. kevins church..old monastery with paths to two lakes and waterfalls.staying on the coast, depending on how far you want to drive, you may want to drive further south to hook light house,waterford etc etc. PM me if you would like more details, suggestions..jim

I have never been to these places, but hopefully one day.
I hope you get other members chipping in and good luck. This time of the year is not the best although it is the cheapest time of year.

Not Irish (found out wife is half Irish: paternal grandparents from there) nor English (though maternal grandparents from there) but have photographed in both places. Problem is there is so much beauty and interest wherever you go that you won't lack great photo opportunities.
