If playing golf in Cornwall, be sure to play Cape Cornwall GC. Course is on top of the cliffs and you will have fantastic views over the rocky cliffs. Careful of the roads to get there. They are mostly single lane with a few wider areas where you can pull over to let oncoming vehicles pass. Don't go too fast as visibility is poor

I have been asked to join a golf trip to Cornwall this August. We will arrive thru Dublin to Newquay and stay at St Ives, Woolacombe, Rock / Padstow. I was thinking of walking along the coast and shooting early and late in the day given we will play middle of the day. Is this practical and are there any best views in the area?

And following the Cornwall visit we go back thru Dublin and I was hoping for a few days along the Irish coast too. Any suggestions for locations? I was thinking two spots to stay a few days in each spot.

Ideas appreciated.

It's not on the Irish coast, but the Wicklow Mountains National Park area is beautiful and fairly close to Dublin! A visit to Glendalough wouldn't disappoint... there's an ancient old stone church there. This is south of Dublin and not too long a drive if you stay on that side of the country.

Also south of Dublin, my travel group visited the Powerscourt House and Gardens ... that was a beautiful place. Touristy yes... and used for movie locations and a Celtic Woman special on PBS... but amazing! If it's coastline you want ... that's still inland though and not exactly what you asked for. Our trip took us to coastline on the west side of Ireland... but I don't know if you plan to go there or stay on the east side and nearer to Dublin.

I stayed in Padstow with a travel group on a different trip and it was just beautiful. We also made a short (2 hour)stop at nearby Port Isaac, where the "Doc Martin" series is filmed. I absolutely loved Port Isaac (my favorite stop of the trip, probably) ... and I'd never even watched the show until after we got home. You have to be dropped off or park up at the top of the hill and walk down ... not much parking in the village. There are all sorts of walking trails along that coastline as someone has already pointed out. If you do make it to Port Isaac and have more time than we were allowed... be sure to walk all of the way to the top of the hill ... past the "doc's house" and above the buildings. The view from up there is amazing (based on the photos of others). I wish I'd had the time to get up there.

Please explain to the OP what time of the year you were in Padstow so that he would have a comparison as it might make a difference.

Our group visited in the last half of September. We started in Dublin and traveled full circle (clockwise) ... staying in Waterford, Killarney, Galway and back to Dublin. We saw lots of places and towns in between. That trip excluded Northern Ireland.

Oops! You specifically mentioned Padstow (a different trip). That one was the last half of June.

Thanks for your clarification.

Ah! What is referred to here as "flaming June". There is no flaming June this time of the year. Warm clothing should be packed.

Was there on a golf trip in July 2017. Played the renowned courses on the south & west part -Waterville, Tralee, Ballybunion, Lahinch (this years Irish Open venue), & Old Head. If you play any of these, take your camera. And even if you don't, Old Head is worth a visit - comparable to any on the California Coast like Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes. The Cliffs of Moher are special & a late afternoon boat tour to the base of the cliffs would yield some great shots. (Took the trip at high noon on a sunny day & you're shooting right into the sun.).

Take a drive around the Dingle peninsula. Of course Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. Don’t forget a Guinness along the way. West coast Ireland photogenic every mile

Dingle is beautiful, but be careful if using Connor Pass. My wife was almost hysterical. But she is like that!
