I do the monthly subscription to LR and PS and they are both 64 Bit, will not have a problem when I eventually updated to Catalina.
I have Windows for Mac and that will go away, rarely use it anyway, I think it is a yearly subscription now, I might be wrong but do not care.

I think someone should make a post suggesting that Mac users avoid running Catalina until Apple gets the bugs worked out. Some people have done fine with it, but many have had problems. Why take the chance?

I recently updated to Mac OS Catalina, and immediately began having problems accessing certain programs and apps. Apple support helped me regain connectivity, but when it came to Photoshop they said I had to contact Adobe. I have Photoshop Elements 12, and since the update of the operating system, the program closes unexpectedly. Usually just after I complete my edits and just before I save them. Has anyone had a similar issue, and if so, what steps did you take to resolve it? Thanks, Herb

I recently spoke with an Adobe tech about an unrelated problem. He told me they are aware of problems with Catalina and advised me not to update.

Good Morning.Any 32 bit app. Will not work with new operating system. I went back to Mojave. this the last V that will work with 32 bit app. MY EPSON PRINTER 2880 will not work with Catalina because it is 32 bit app. At 86 I’m not going to my a new printer I’ll stay with MOJAVE. BOB

The issue is more with Catalina. Also your app may not be 64 bit. I’m not updating my Mac yet while Apple and Adobe get back in synch.

I went back. I told the tech I also had a Laptop not in the new system. He suggested (and I agreed) to copping the laptop to the iMac . DON'T DO THAT. It may sound ok but it seems to have messed up the iMac now. Many little problems. All fixable but a mess. PS The iMac seems to work slower for some reason and when I drag and drop out takes for ever now.

If you only have updated to Catalina with the first notice, check again for updates. Apple knew there were glitches (like the dock going away) and they sent out notice of a corrective update. Other than that, all your apps need to be updated to 64bit (don't know why or how) and some of the apps are not there yet. LR and PS were updated in advance so they should be working with the Catalina fix.

I don't know Jerry. It is Adobe that has the problem not Apple. If you don't take or edit pictures you have no problem.

I upgraded both of my machines and knew I would be losing the use of my CS6 apps. My primary use of these machines is photography and web development. I've always been a heavy Adobe user, but have been moving toward some other apps (keeping the photographers bundle in CC of course). I was aware of where the hammer would fall hardest with the upgrade. I'm a child of both worlds, but have been an Apple user since '97 and know what to expect. As already stated by other users, we Mojave users were warned for the past year what would happen when Catalina comes out. Also, when deciding to upgrade, I was given a warning that the following apps (list) would not be supported. Every user should get that list and choose to go or not. That being said - there will always be bugs in the machine with the first upgrade.... and then the second... and so on. I'm extremely happy with my choice to upgrade the machines. I have a 2010 MacBook Pro 17" that is not allowed to go beyond High Sierra and that runs anything older I require. Best of luck to all who do the upgrade - I've found that my Mac eco-system to be running swimmingly.

Apple has stated clearly for a year, at least, that 32 Bit apps would not be supported by the new OS. I have been busy checking what I have and downloading new drivers for my printer and my scanner and checking that my critical apps will work when I eventually instal the new OS. Apple warn me when I open apps that they will not function with the new OS. I also never load the first release of a new OS. There are always bugs. I wait for 2 or 3 updates before I go for it. Don't blame Apple folks take responsibility for your technology that way it will work for you.

I also updated to Mac OS Catalina - no major problems except 2 of my programs will not work because they are 32 bit - first one blocked was Picasa and I will miss this - mainly used to add frames to photos and as Google has discontinued the app it is lost. Had another with Print Shop Greeting cards app but I am expecting they may add a 64 bit update.

Not certain the update adds much I am interested in but Apple always claim that they have included important security updates - how will we ever know??

Technology moves on. 32 bit apps are old and nowhere near as efficient as the newer 64bit versions. If you insist on using old, outdated software, don't update your operating system, use mojave instead which does support 32 bit apps. Apple did not make you upgrade. For the past year, plus, every time I opened a 32 bit app, Apple warned me. You would have to be dead to not know. I like working better and faster, so I keep things current. Although I did update this machine (a 2018 MacBook Pro), which does have Lr, I did not update my main PP machine, an iMac PRO, as of yet. That will happen in a few weeks. Best of luck.

Why do you hoggers have a Tendency to beat up some of the OPs and or older users who may not be as computer literate As yourself or others. I upgraded in the past and had my printer not work that sort of . I don't understand why a software or hardware manufacturer would produce a new software version, and not allow you access to your programs or machines that used 24 hours earlier. That being said I Am a Mac user and have yet to receive any warnings perhaps that means I'm running 64 bit apps but as I'm older and not that computer literate I have no idea. Although I do run the subscription version of photoshop and Lightroom so maybe it just upgrades I don't know. but I know I'm not stupid Just not that computer literate and would know how to determine the difference between at 32 and a 64 bit version of anything. Perhaps some of the respondent could help the gentleman or myself with that.

Thanks for the information. I have one machine that's still running Mavericks. It's working fine. I'm not going to upgrade on my other one for awhile. I'm an impatient partly tech savvy person.
