The C.O. Pro Sony is the full program only with Sony Cameras loaded into its ability to process images. I use C.O. Pro Sony and have no complaints. Remember it is a RAW converter program and may not have all the creative options as in PS, but there are other programs (use as a plugin or not) that can be used for those creative effects. I also use Zoner Photo Studio. There are good training videos on YouTube.

I switched to Capture One a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. I use a main catalog for my images on my main computer and use sessions on my tablet when I travel (I import the sessions into the catalog once I'm back at home). I find C1's implementations if layers works better than Lightroom's local editing capabilities. They work differently, but after aclimating to C1 I much prefer it.

Hey all! I’m considering purchasing this software for my Sony cameras (around a 100 bucks.) I currently use Lightroom 6 and am looking for comparisons. I know Gene uses this software for his Sony’s. Anyone else? I’m only interested in the Sony version. Thanks

I found out about it the same way five years ago. I bought the full system almost immediately once I discovered Sessions since I manage my own catalog using Windows Explorer.

Does the Full Pro version allow you to layer images? Can’t do that in Lightroom.

CO 12 has layers so you can edit selected portions of the image separately from others.

Among many other things, you can apply sharpening to the in-focus parts of the image while not adding noise to other areas.

Maybe I’m referring to focus stacking? Like you can do for macro pictures to get the whole image in focus?

Something I’ve never done before. I have Photoshop CS5 but never learned to use it.

Take a look at Zerene Stacker.

If you use Sessions as it was originally intended - as a tethered device while doing actual studio shooting, then it will probably be different for the obvious reason. Perhaps that is where the "Capture" folder would be. I don't have one.
It's possible that there is confusion being generated by the method of importation. Translation: I always put the picture files on the hard disk using my file manager and only then import what I want to work on. It does import the entire folder in which the target file resides, but I usually limit the content of that folder (cull first).

I hope this helps clear it up.

Yep figured it out, like you say.
Was Importing to Sessions as opposed to 'linking'.
I rather like it. Creates a folder of its own not sub folder in original folder. Have them saved together. Helps for broken links which I can break in a heart beat. Been upgrading hard drives and moving things a lot lately.
The Capture One Session folders 'imported' have full size copies so I usually only keep selected images I wish to edit. The one I mentioned hadn't culled yet so size was big.
Thanks.

You may already know this but one of the benefits of Sessions is that the whole session directory can be copied to another computer so the editing effort can be worked on there or archived as a unit. You can even rename the directory.

All you need to do to open the session again is to double-click the db file name in the base folder which has the original session name such as "2019-10 Old Cars.cosessiondb"
