Hi Tammy...Welcome to UHH. You certainly have come to the right place if you love taking pictures. There are a few factors that have to be considered in purchasing a camera. First, how much are you willing to spend. Second, going to a camera store and talking to a sales person about the different cameras, or asking questions right here! For every question you ask, you will probably receive 10 or more answers. Once you have the answers you need, go back to the camera store and hold the different cameras that fit your need. See how they feel in your hands. Then, make your decision.
Other than that, talk to people here. Make some friends. Study what other photographers are showing. Start posting some of your images, and ask for constructive critiques. If you want to talk to someone, one on one, utilize the P M box. But above all, HAVE FUN.

Welcome to the "Hog" family, Tammy. We will be more than happy to suggest what camera to buy, however, please, let us know what type of photography you will be doing, are you going to need long range lenses, and most of all, what is you budget. Also remember: in buying a new camera and lens, think on future upgrades, because the investment you make on lenses will be a big factor on what brand of camera you first invest your money on. I am Nikon user, therefore this will be the brand of choice for me, however there are many other brands just as good, like Canon, Olympus, and others. Once you decide on the brand and model, go to a camera shop in your area and hold the camera on your hands and see how it feels. Also, if you can rent a couple of different ones for few days it will be even better. Another suggestion once you decide on brand and model, check the stores on line that sells them used. For both new and / or used camera and lens, check Adorama, B&H, Keh Camera and compare prices between them - they also rent cameras. Good luck and welcome to the group.
Thank you! I like it already! I'm excited to show some of my photos to others and to learn how to be better. I see beauty everywhere but it doesn't always show up in my pictures. How and where do I post pictures at? I've seen pictures with the persons name on it. How do they do that?
Welcome to the forum. My first recommendation is that you join a photo club in your area. Photo clubs are always active and in general they have many senior members with lots of experience.
Whatever camera you buy learn how it works and the instructions book for the camera is your your best friend. Learn basic photography and then begin practicing asking what you cannot understand and learning from your mistakes by showing your images to others for an honest critique.
Good luck!
