Welcome. One of the best places to buy is KEH.com where you can pick up used equipment at good prices.

Thank you! I like it already! I'm excited to show some of my photos to others and to learn how to be better. I see beauty everywhere but it doesn't always show up in my pictures. How and where do I post pictures at? I've seen pictures with the persons name on it. How do they do that?

Welcome to the Hog. Most likely they are adding their name with some type of photo software. (pp= post processing). The best place to start for now might be Adobe elements until you figure out what type of camera your going to buy. There are free programs out there, 1 being Gimp.
The Oregon coast has lots of beauty. There are lots of photography vids on you tube , some who work the north west area. Adam Gibbs, Nick Page, Fototripper. Lots of vids on photo software how to also.
Have fun , Tom

Welcome aboard, enjoy and have fun. You will get more opinions and suggestions than you can shake a stick at, but most all will be helpful and well meaning!! The bigger bonus is that there is a great "bank of hands-on knowledge" here, and a willingness to help.

Welcome fellow origonian. Cel phones a fine. Many great photos are shot on cel phones. I even teach a class using cel phones. We live in a photographers paradise. If your in the high desert we could get together or take one of my classes at COCC or Parks and Rec classes. Love to see some of your pictures. Again, Welcome

Happy Birthday Tammy 🎁 there are plenty of these to open here. For your first camera I would suggest going to a store and trying a few out. If you find one you like in your price range then go and look on the net for the best deal. Don't forget the used ones!
Wishing you many years of happy shooting.

Oh I forgot to mention. The real brick and mortar Camera Stores in Oregon are Shutterbug and Pro Photo. Shutterbug is located is severel cities across Oregon. Pro Photo is in Portland only. Both are good stores. Both have prices competitive to the online stores. Of course there is Best Buy but it isn't a real camera store.

Do you want a DSLR Camera or the latest technology, a MIRRORLESS Camera? Do your research carefully. Much to learn for sure. Take your time. Possibly start with a Used Quality camera and Lens, simple to learn and Operate.
Remember K.I.S.S.= Keep It Simple Silly.
Remember G.A.S.= Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
Hope you will find success in your Photography Journey.
