All the gators are great shots. I'll stay far away. I'm too old and too slow to hang out with those critters. I have to say you guys and gals don't lack courage or fast movin legs!
Those are all great shots . Maybe a longer lens would be something to consider !

Nah, I seldom leave my comfort zone. Although that would be a good reason to talk my wife into a 600 MM. I have been shooting these guys long enough that I can pretty much tell how they are going to react. I have a pretty good feel for their comfort zone and try real hard to respect it.

Very nice shot. I bet I would have moved before you.:)
Did you look like lunch or dinner?

This guy lives in a small pond that for some reason he thinks he owns. When you get his attention it is a pretty good idea to back off. He is quite aggressive. During mating season you really have to be careful. Keeps you alert, that's for sure.

He is around 11 or 12 feet. When he crosses the road near his pond he is longer than the road is wide and it's about 10 feet wide. He won't hold still long enough for me to measure him with my tape.LOL. He is big and very very fast. I have seen him catch birds.

If it were a Stuckey's gator it would have been 17 feet long.
All Stuckey's gators are 17 feet long, judging from the billboard advertising.
Good shots. I don't blame you for moving.

Here is an old one. It is one of my favorites. This Gator and turtle were actually friends and the turtle would ride on the gators back. Unfortunately a poacher killed the Gator a few years ago. He was in a Irrigation Pond for a Strawberry field not far from my home. I could pretty much call him up and shoot him whenever I wanted. shame
Interesting! Had to be pretty trusting, didn't Kipling write a fable about a monkey riding on the back of a croc to cross a river. I'm glad the turtle didn't meet the same fate and it is sad that someone felt the need to kill the gator. I hope poachers are fined heavily or jailed or both.
From the looks of this gator, you would need about a 10,000 mm lens and a 60' tree to climb and shoot from the top. Gators love dogs as I lost one while walking him and throwing a stick in a lake in Orlando. Didn't see the gator until he got the dog. That was downtown Orlando.

I'd give him the pond!
