The announcement of the a9II has come in time for its release for next year's Summer Olympics in Japan. I never saw the first a9. What was impressive, reading the review on the camera, was its capability of shooting 20fps. That's a super advantage for action sports. The price of the camera is definitely out of my budget. A friend owns the Sony a7r2. I was also surprised how expensive some FE lenses are. The G-Master and Zeiss lenses, are expensive as the premier Nikon and Canon pro "L" lenses.

Look to Ebay for some good prices on used, mint A9's, as folks will be trading up for the A9II. I just picked up an A9 with grip and two batteries, boxes, manuals, complete, with less than 4K shutter count for 2 bills, much better than 5 bills for the A9II with battery grip.
Make sure that the A9 either has, or you can update firmware to the newer eye focusing system.

When I upgrade to a new cam it'll probably either be the a77ii or the a99ii. I have an unrelated question - can I set up the computer to download pics into PSE Elements or Organizer? Right now they go into "Photos" (Win 10 native). JPG opens/manipulates without problems, but RAW images crash the program!!

Just another excuse to get in your wallet. And many - too many - will get sucked in.

Expected to shipped in November and cost $4500.

In my opinion its not a significant upgrade over the original with new firmware. Canon and Nikon have yet to come out with anything that competes with previous version.

Why would anyone spend $4,500 on this camera when, for example, they could buy a new Fuji X-T3 MILC for $1,399?

Is this Sony Camera REALLY that much better? I realize many people are married to their brand of equipment, but sometimes I just have to scratch my head when I see disparities like this.

OK, please enlighten me. Please try to minimize the attacks. I am really just trying to understand.

No argument. The Fuji X-T3 sells for just south of $1500.00 and it appears not everyone is married to that brand.

Bought it in the hope of good quality. Camera assembled in china. lens in the philippines. Im very upset because in mode LIVE VIEW on a white background are visible not works pixels in the amount of more than 1000. pixels are white and black , they can be seen when zooming in through the rear functional wheel. this problem is visible on a light background , dead pixels are arranged chaotically. does not depend on the camera settings, can be seen in auto mode or iso320-400, ss1/30. this is not a screen or viewfinder . only matrix! this is noticeable on some serial number cameras with 8DQxxxxx. this problem is not on every camera. I met this defect in three new cameras out of five. let me know if you have such a camera. Front and rear wheels are poorly controlled with your fingers. as a result, the wheel falls into the button and it works, a weak spring is installed. Set up quickly fails..

For me, I bought a used mint A9 with vertical grip for 2 bills.
One of the advantages of this camera is 20 fps and can be done in silent mode, which, if you shoot wildlife, is a real advantage over all the others.

Thanks for responding. I have an X-T2, don’t use live view (prefer EVF). I really like the brand and their lenses, but realize it’s not for everyone.

You're better off with the XT-2 which was made in Japan. However, I think the A9 II is made in Indonesia as the A9 was made there.

They still haven't been able to eliminate the shutter. That is the one thing I am expecting of the mirrorless.

How about when they eliminate the bloody camera altogether? Some sort of implant in my brain, so I really get what I see.

Perhaps there is a reason they are so enthusiastic. One has to have confidence in their equipment otherwise the game is handicapped.

Oh they are working on that but I certainly don't want anything to do with that. I love cameras whether or not I take pictures with them.

I own the current A9. No other fullframe camera from any maker can touch its performance, none. The A9II is an incremental upgrade to the same new body as the new 61 megapixel A7RIV, which I also own. The A9II adds new features and new connectivity aimed at professional sports shooters ahead of the Olympics. If you don't need the 43 new/and upgraded features of the A9II, the A9 is plenty camera enough. Sony is already advertising both the A9 and A9II in the same video, and will sell both to action and sports shooters.
Cheers

Do you think the A9II may have more under the hood that hasn't been implemented yet? Firmware seems to be doing a lot more these days that in the past would have required a new camera body.
