Expected to shipped in November and cost $4500.
In my opinion its not a significant upgrade over the original with new firmware. Canon and Nikon have yet to come out with anything that competes with previous version.

Even if I wasn't completely satisfied with my current camera systems, the trumpeting of the Sony Fan Boys would be enough to prevent consideration of the system.

Perhaps there is a reason they are so enthusiastic. One has to have confidence in their equipment otherwise the game is handicapped.

They still haven't been able to eliminate the shutter. That is the one thing I am expecting of the mirrorless.

E-shutter works by turning the sensor on and off. When they figure out how to sync it with electronic flash it will disappear altogether. Its almost there.

I thought the e-shutter scans the image, or have they brought the global shutter to market?

You are correct. It turns portions of the sensor on and off to achieve the scan, hence the distortion in some circumstances.
The global shutter should solve this and hopefully the flash problem (wishful thinking on my part).

Sony is a decent system but not any better than others.
I compared several Sonys with my Z at the camera club. The Z
After one model Nikon has caught up and past sony in some areas.
Sony is now making changes to copy Nikon (such as grip). One big screw up they made with the A9Ii is to use sd cards. The result is buffering problems.
The XQD system in Nikon is much better.
The best next move would be to create a reliable wifi transfer system to back up off camrra.

I see that you have words of wisdom that I consider many times, and yet sometimes, like now you just don't make any sense at all. What difference does someone else's opinion make in your purchase choice. Aren't you looking for the best product at the best price like the rest of us???

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. I was hoping for more MP sensor and considering the benefit of a faster shutter, but neither of those things happened. Apparently, so they claim, is the improvement in connectivity which for me, and I suspect most wildlife photographers, has little value. So in a way I am relieved in that I won't have the urge to run out and upgrade.
On the other hand, your images of your immature cardinal posted this AM are pretty amazing. I would say the A7RIV pretty much rocks and is vast improvement over the A7RIII. In this case I am starting to have some intestinal issues.

T thought bringing up JPG vs RAW would give that "Hornets Nest" a poke or two but this is getting interesting. I just wonder how many Sony people are Apple product fans?

That would be a game changer. However, the shutter on the A9II is rated at 500,000. So my guess is it may outlive many users.
