Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and am a amatuer photographer mostly just for pleasure. I'm looking for a lens for my sony A6300 that can be interchangeable with the sony A9 which is on my wish list for the future. I have the G-Master 100-400 and a Zeiss prime Touit 1.8/32. Looking for maybe a 70-200 or similar, I want high end glass. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

A 24-105 seems in order - If you need longer for the A9 just use 1.1-2X Clear Image Zoom.

Sure it is. I often use it that way when I don't feel like walking around with a 150-600.

But now you've made me self-conscious - I don't want to be caught walking around with the wrong walk around lenses.

Funny thing is that one of the exercises I use with my students is to "walk around" with a prime lens or their zoom lens with the zoom ring taped so they can't move it. That quickly gives them a sense of perspective and composition.

Being the term "walk around" is very subjective, I believe the factories have already told us. The standard kit lens or a higher quality version of about the same thing.

When I bought my first EOS camera in 1990 the only lens I bought for it was an EF 70-210mm f/4. Walked around with that rig for several years (younger then, so walking with a couple of pounds wasn't much of a challenge).

I shoot a Sony A77 and a Sony A77ii. My walk around lenses are a Tamron 18-270 and a Sony 16-250. Got the Tamron first then the Sony later. Love them both.

Correct 70 to 200 @ f2.8 is a specialised glass and heavy too. My walk round is 18 to 200 mark2 with lens lock you need good light or tripod and time it is a wonderful bit of kit but it is a little soft at 200 mm but still passable.

I use Sony Zeiss 24-70 as a walk around for street photography on an A900’s full frame. Works great for me.

I use Nikons, and my favorite is my 18-200 Nikon lens. This usually is helpful unless I need a longer lens.

Everybody has an opinion and everybody's right. The best "walkaround" lens is the one you have on your camera right now, whatever it may be. Every lens is a "zoom" lens if you can walk, so go ahead an shoot. As you do so you'll develop a style and you'll be able to determine if you need new or different equipment. Everybody's opinion here is right - from their perspective. Now develop your own.

Thank you for your reply and I also like to shoot birds, but I was more thinking about just walking around town maybe traveling.

Wow you walk around with a 100-600 isn't that heavy? I was thinking about travel and need something lighter than that. Thanks for your reply.
