Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and am a amatuer photographer mostly just for pleasure. I'm looking for a lens for my sony A6300 that can be interchangeable with the sony A9 which is on my wish list for the future. I have the G-Master 100-400 and a Zeiss prime Touit 1.8/32. Looking for maybe a 70-200 or similar, I want high end glass. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
For your cropped sensors, the 'walkaround' zoom range is typically 18 to 135mm ish.

I often walk around with a 150-600. I like to shoot birds.
Not being a wiseass, but one person's walkaround can be another person's albatross. You know what you like to shoot, you should take that as a cue as to what lens to use.

“Walk around lens”
Where will you be walking around will denote lens needs
I wouldn’t walk around the city with a 100-600
But general great lens is the Sony 24-105 sense you looking at the A9
Lately I have been walking around with only my cell-phone.
Shame on me.

Depends on what your shooting when your walking around. If I am shooting wildlife, my carry around would be the 100-400.
If I'm walking around NYC, I'm going to have the Zeiss lens on.
The 70-200 2.8 is not a light lens. But if you are also buying for an A9, then stay away from a cropped sensor lens.
The A9 is currently $500.00 off, this past June B&H had it for $1000.00 off. B&H also is currently throwing in a off brand TTL flash.
I am sure the A9II is coming.

Me too. It's always with me.

That's better than I as i just generally have my eyes. ;-) . But if I'm in a picture taking mode it just depends on what camera I have with me in the Vehicle. My least used camera > Canon T3i has an 28-135 I keep on it unless I require something else.
When I changed from Nikon to the Sony a7iii I got the Sony 24-105. It is a highly rated lens for full frame and has worked very well for me as a walk around lens. I will be adding additional lenses as I need them.
I agree with earlier commentators that you should try to figure out what you predominately like to shoot. It makes sense that the person who shoots birds carries a very long lens as his walk around lens. If you shoot mostly landscapes then something wider than 24mm might be in order. But if you're a general shooter (like me) then something like the 24-105 should work well for you if it's in your price range.
Bill - you are too funny! That was a perfect (if not serious) reply. I think it's appropriate just to get us laughing this morning. Note that this lens can walk around even in bad weather.
A 70-200 IS NOT a walk around lens.

So, in your opinion, what is?

Sony E 18-105 is just what you want. Equivalent angles of 27-152, just right.
I use it all the time with an A6500, great for vacations and not expensive
Have fun!
Whoops! Use the 24-105 instead. A little tight on the short side but a great G lens too.
