I also am not selling wally world short. The fact is the machines are only as good as the service it receives. The fact that I am not the only one with these problems support that. Now I have used the machines in Calif as well, and found them satisfactory. As far as Sams Club...those prints were ordered over the internet, and when I tried to locate them I had no help. I was shifted from one person to the next, and no one knew where the prints were, although they had support that I had ordered them. Another thing I do not like about Sam's is that you are committed to purchasing the print weather it is satisfactory or not, even when you prove to them that the picture was GREAT on the cd.(this is in store)
More than likely, I will use CVS again in a pinch, but find the photo sites soooo much more convenient.

I AM SELLING WALMART AND OTHER CHAIN STORE SHORT!
(That among them there are a few gems is true, like everything else there are exceptions to the rules.

Ask the kids working there, they usually have little training and their time in there maybe only a few weeks or months (if you are lucky)

I will say nothing og some chain store drive to cash in on the holidays that hire 17 years old for the holidays season to drag screaming kids and parents to a 'so called Santa photographer from hell!

Please don't start me on that subject because I have seen too many horror stories from 'mass' 'professional' producers who do churches, senior portraits and the like. They play on the quantity not the quality seeing the skill of their so called photographers!!!

So true on the training time and even the age of the person running the machine.

I have used Mpix and they did good work. I have also used this small shop in Ashland OR and got super print quality. Love the metallic prints from him

I would go to Wal Mart and buy a Sandisk Cruzer flash drive and put my photos on it. When yuo get home just open explorer on your computer and drag your photos to the Cruzer drive. Then you can either take it to a photo store or where ever you want to have your photos made and they can just download them or you can send to an online store. Either way you have your best photos on the flash drive as a back up and you can always add more photos to it or delete some of them if you change your mind about them.....

I usually upload to sanpfish, then pick up at meijers, compare the prices...if meijers is having a sale vs snapfish. either way I upload to snapfish. You can edit/crop pics from their site...I have alot of pictures printed, mostly family stuff...I love to do posters/collage posters of events or everyday things...snapfish offers all kinds of things...I've done many photo books from their site also.

Things that I want fast (in about an hour) , I send them to Walmart. I do this with a free Google program, called Picasa. Walmart can handle up to an 8X10. They send things out if you want something larger (which takes about a week). I send things to B&H , Adorama, or Bay Photo. They each have their own set ups. I like Walmart and Picasa combination because of the convenience and speed. I picked Walmart because of location. Picasa will connect with other services which may be closer to your location. I also use Picasa in combination with a G mail account to send things to friends.

Once upon a time one the best lab North America wide (US and Canada) was in Detroit near Jeffries freeway (96) I do not know if they are still active. I will have to check them out the next time I go there. They knew each of the professional they dealt with, knew their tastes and requirement, were fast, reliable and consistent. No special request was ignored. And each of us (photographer had a dedicated representative...

These guys were a wet dream come true for printing but expensive.

well that sounds like the way to go. Do u have any places. In mind. Yes I just crawled from under a rock!! Lol.

I go on line to Walgreens and if you get on their mailing list, they constantly send you photo deals. I also read that Snapfish goes through Walgreens And that's not a stupid question so don't feel funny. I just found out about it fairly recently myself. ;-)

ok well again I have a question and when I have a question I come here because everyone is so helpful. i have photographs that i have edited to my liking. My question is this. what is the best way to get them from my computer to a store to print? i know how dumb and simple this is but well i just dont know how. do i put them all in one folder and transfer to a cd or is there a way to revert them back to my card in camera as edited and have them printed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Believe it or not, there's an easier way to take your photos out of your computer for printing. It's called a "Thumb Drive, or Flash Drive," used by connection to your computer's thumb drive. There are literally dozens to choose from. The size you need will depend greatly on how many photos you have, and how big the images are. If you're shooting standard photos, then they might not be any bigger than a few hundred kilobytes, very small. However if you're shooting high resolution, large format, then your images can range from 4.0MB to as large as 10MB in size. That's huge! Large format photos can eat a lot of storage memory very quickly. If you have large format photos, then I would go with a thumb drive size of 8GB. That should be sufficient enough to load hundreds or thousands of photos into. The thumb drive can then be taken directly to anyplace that makes and prints photos. Stores as Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Fred Meyers (Freddie's) and even Costco or Sam's Club have digital stations for processing and printing digital photographs.

A more important consideration since you wanted to make edits, enhancements and changes yourself; "What Photo Edit Suite" are you using to work and edit your photos? Hope you find a solution that is beneficial to you...

If your going to use Wally World, just upload them via computer (assumes you have already post). Easier as pie. Quality is not bad either. Have never done one over 8X10. That way they are ready when you arrive.

My guy at Wally World in NH advised me that anything done over 8x10 on their web site is actually processed at the HP printing facility, just at the discounted price - I have only good things to say about their product.

Yeah Costco has on line ordering that even I have figured out how to use. Prices are reasonable.....you can get 100 prints for around $10....add another $2 and they will put it on a CD for you also.

There are several things you can do. Most cities have a photo printing service... in Roanoke it is Photo USA... you can go by the store or they'll give you a CD disk to download onto your computer and then you can do it from there. Either way, they'll make prints at whatever size or quantity you want.

Another way is to put the photos you want developed on a disk... or take your card that is in your camera and take it to some where like Photo USA or even Walmart, and they'll develop it for you.

Another choice is to purchase a pretty good printer, and you can print it out yourself. Good luck... enjoy your pictures.

Using my Picasa software, which is free, I edit each photo and load them all on CDs for storage. Once this is done, I can take any CD of my choice to my local camera store and load them n their computer. They then make prints, which are ready to pick up in an hour.
