I upload my pics directly to Costco Warehouse. They're ready in an hour. Great quality.

If you want to get technical, you can download the profiles for their printers and paper to see what our image will look like when finished.

This is my first reply to try to help as I am not a long time photographer...do you have a good photo editing program "Paint .net" is a good one then get a good printer I use HP Office Jet J648....But there are many good ones out there. I also use Samsung Color Laser Printer. Then use GOOD photo paper (KODAK)
Download to your editor program and go from there. hope this is of some use to you

I use Kodak online. I always have the pictures sent by mail, but you can also pick them up at a CVS drugstore.

Also, as several others mentioned, you can use a flash drive and got to the big warehouse stores (COSTCO, BJs, etc) or a drugstore chain, and probably some local photo shop and get them done in an hour.
As far as writing back to an SD card or Compact flash card, I've experienced some problems seeing the pictures 'in the camera' after I put them back on the cards, but I don't think that should affect reading them at a local store.

One last note. When I use Kodak, I always wait for one of their sales. I get emails from them because I'm subscribed.

This is absolutely correct .I am going to walgreens this morning to pick up a few that I uploaded last night.
You can use Walgreens website or Shutterfly just to name 2. You will create a folder on their site and simply upload to there.

Most places you can simply upload to their website and order that way. You don't even have to leave your home. :)

Hello, How knowledgeable are you with your computer?
I use an old laptop, I plug in a flash drive into a USB port and just drag drop the ones I like over to the the drive. You don't really have to organize into a folder. They will just be listed as JPEG's. Take your drive to whoever printer.
Most of them you can even e-mail to a printer as an attachment. I done that too.
Anyway hope that helps.

well that sounds like the way to go. Do u have any places. In mind. Yes I just crawled from under a rock!! Lol.

Mpix.com or Adorama do a great job and have a very fast turn around! Plus, they offer more print sizes than say Walmart or Walgreens.

You might try COSTCO. You can do everything on line. You can also go there with a CD or a thumb drive and they will help you. Check them out, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the cost and quality.

I just copy mine to dvd this way i have it as backup also, and take the dvd to the kiosk, I also download them to an sd card. and take that sometimes when I want just a few or a special photo, like when I made my daughters wedding frame photo, I downloaded the finished photo only ,took it to Walmarts and printed the 8x10 and bought the frame there also and put it together in the car before getting to their place for dinner one day.memory sticks are another way too, and you can swap from computer to laptops easier with them , because everything has usb ports .but now everything has sd-card slots too so its up to you..

For years I have been taking my card into Walgreens, Walmart, Sams Club and CVS. I was never satisfied. The manager at Walgreens told me I was too 'picky' and said I needed a new camera. Come to find out, others were having the same issues with their prints there. Needless to say I have never been back there.
I had problems with Walmart's clarity and having to wait forever to even use the machines.I also had no privacy. I have a problem with strangers looking over my shoulder and making comments. One woman even asked why I would even consider taking pictures of barns. One man wanted me to make extra prints of my insects for him.
Sams Club lost photos that took me 2 days to put together.(I had ordered on line) And CVS... the biggest problem was again waiting to use the machine, and lack of privacy, as well as limited editing tools.
I find it very convenient using the on line photo centers. Yes you have to wait a few days for them to be delivered, and you have to pay postage. On occasion they run specials. One I got 101 free photos. Sometimes they run a free mailing special. Their prices on 5x7's and 8x10's are GREAT.
I have used Snapfish. They are decent photos, but they run slower in the mailing. The other one I will not mention, as their seems to be a problem with my password, and they have me under a completely different account. That company has incredible clarity ( important for my insect and barn photos) and their delivery time is much shorter than the other places.
These are just a few experiences I have had to deal with. And I am SURE that it depends on where you use the public machines, such as CVS. While in Carmel I used the machine to download my chip onto a cd and decided to make a few prints to send a relative, and was very happy with those prints.
Well I need to get myself pulled together so I can go photo some wonderful North Carolina fall colors....tata

Taking the suggestions of many who post on this forum, I started uploading my pics to the Costco Photo center. You can pick them up or have them mailed back to you. I was so pleased with the quality. My biggest concern was that the color would come out very different from what was on my monitor, but I need not have worried. The biggest blow-up I ever had done was an 11X14, and it came out perfectly. When having enlargements just be sure to watch for the "crop factor warning". The pic will be cropped somewhat on the sides, but you get to pick where it is cropped.

Canca,
To be honest there are only a few companies in the world that make photo processing machines. Now I use Costco for much of my photos. When I have to have certain things done then I use one of the Pro Labs in NYC. Difference in price, enormous. Do you know the parameters of the machines in Walmart, since they are the same machine used in many of the online processing houses, if you do set your monitor to those parameters and I bet your photos turn out much better. Also how did they loose your photos. Did you leave a CD with them or a flash drive?

Don't sell Walmart short on the print quality issue. I know wedding photographers that have their wedding photos printed at Walmart and Sam's an are very pleased with the results.

Hollywood,
Hope you don't think I was selling Walmart short I wasn't, there are certain things they can not do because of knowledge. But for the most part theirs and Costco or Sam's Club are just fine, quality photos for a very reasonable price.

thanks for the help guys!! i will get a memory stick and order online, i will use stick to develope less attractive photos at walmart and use that site mentioned for good photos. thanks alot[/quote

Do you have a Costco near you, if so they have state of the art machines and I also use them. Believe it or not they even print on canvas.
A Pro friend of mine clued me in that Costco has the same high end printer that a Bay Photo has. I will be sending over some files to print with Costco to check it out. Price is great too.
