New iPhones are available for pre order.
Here are some camera highlights:
1. 2 models with 3 prime lenses:
13mm Ultra Wide.120 degree field of view
26 mm Wide. Optical Image Stabilization
52 mm Telephoto. f/2.0
2. 1 model with just the 13mm and 26mm lenses.
3. Night mode delivers natural low-light shots automatically.
This post is meant for those with an interest in getting a new iPhone. I now use an iPhone 7. I can see how one of the new iPhones would be good to have. I certainly could have used it on my recent trip to Glacier National Park.

I am ordering it, work foots the bill.
What are the pics like printed to A4?
Just a month ago... I bought an iPhone 10. Now, these are introduced! Dang!!š³
I'm sorry but this is just not an incentive. I have more lenses for any of my cameras. My only reason for having an iPhone is for the use of an exposure/processing program. Since I carry a camera with me 95% of the time, the phone is not the first thing I think of when I want to take a photograph.

It won't work for me. I don't carry a phone with me 98% of the time.

Man, doesn't it hurt when you sit with the 52mm extending in your back pocket? That's 2 inches!
By definition, almost all of us reading this are not the ātarget marketā for these new camera options
Will this replace a DSLR/mirrorless today, especially at the professional/artist level - likely not, but it will give some capabilities not found in cameras today.
Think about the mass market - whom is not carrying around multiple bodies/lenses where ever they go, and wants a quick memory, picture for a record, or something for social media. Will they be good enough for that. Absolutely! Will they eat through the lower end of the point&shoot range by increasing quality, better low light capability, and convenience in a device that (all respect to Bill) most people carry with them near 100% of the time. Absolutely!
Remember, just as a FF DSLR with 8 lenses might not be right for an average tourist in London, this may not, at this time, replace for the artists/professionals. There will always be a need for focused equipment, but the volume will shrink and it will turn into more of a niche (see Kodak!)
I have many, many lenses for my DSLRās; but I am very impressed with what Apple is doing.
The iPhones are getting more advanced with every new edition. I think that is telling us something.
I have had iphones from the beginning, before the app program. Currently have an 8+, which has 2 12mp cameras x1 and x2 optical and then there is digital zoom out to x10. I was not impressed with the 10s, so didn't buy one, and am not impressed with the 11s. The three camera versions went in exactly the wrong direction - they went ultrawide and x1 and x2 all 12mp cameras. I can take ultrawide panoramas with my 8+. Yes, the 3 cameras are a bit faster and have better low light performance (playing catch up to Samsung), they have larger OLED displays, and a faster processor. I don't care for the facial recognition feature. Face it, Samsung is handing Apple it's head as Apple is playing catch up. Think I'll keep my 8+ for a while yet and continue to take my camera go bag with me (D7200, 18-140mm, 10-20mm) if I think there may be photo opportunities. Don't know how much longer Apple can charge $1k for catch up products.

With your 8+ I can see how the newest iPhones would be less attractive. My 7 has only one lens, a 28mm, f/1.8. A 13mm(f/2.4)-52mm(f/2.0) iPhone 11 Pro or Pro + would be very useful for me. I donāt expect to get one right away, but likely will at some point.

I agree with your statements. It seems cell phone technology is improving at a greater pace than what some people buy as a ābetterā camera, the Advanced point and shoot camera. Some have larger sensors and more versatile zooms, but donāt even have a touch screen. A common comment in reviews of such cameras is that their cell phone takes better photos.

I am far from giving up my DSLRās, but I can not deny the quality and significance of the cell phone cameras.
They are the future for many people, including pro photographers.
