it is going to be a gas guzzler - not electric....! Not that there is a limit to electric ....186,000 miles per second...669,600,000 miles an hour (my calculator has 3 spaces left for technology to 'improve'.

They will make 3 to be sold at a phenomenal price to someone who keeps it in a secure lockup in the hope that the tax man hasn't noticed!

have fun

Be specific - what technology in this car related to going 300mph is applicable to future automobiles that Joe Citizen will be driving in 5 or 10 years from now at 2-digit speeds? I am not an automotive engineer either so I cannot be specific. But I do know that experiments in space travel, automobile racing and other sports regarding speed have brought to us better designs let's say regarding brakes and maybe steering. A vehicle that needs to stop from 300 mph has to have good brakes. The technology for those brakes will someday lead to better brakes on vehicles of tomorrow. Much of what we learn from technology of one specific achievement such as flying airplanes, driving race cars, shooting firearms can be related to other technologies.

Makes me feel good when I did nearly half that in my 6 cylinder.

And I bet your 6 cylinder didn't cost $6 million bucks!!!

Does it matter, at 300 mph you better have both hands on the steering wheel anyway.

Oh Yes I totally agree, maybe glued to the steering wheel.

Where is automobile transportation going ?
Nowhere.
People don’t look at the road anymore.
Enter the cellphone.

I'd bet the driver seat is a toilet.

They will, it just takes longer at 35 mph.

What is the point of it?

How many people that can afford to own one are capable of driving it safely at 3-digit speeds? And where would they drive it? It seems investor capital could be spent developing more rationally applicable technology.

I agree that it’s pointless to have a 300mph car. I’d settle for a Maclaren 12C with a top speed of only 207mph.

Bugatti Chiron has set the world record for a streetable supercar with a speed of 304 mph, that is amazing and scary. What next, 400 mph?

Well, you could ask Kevin Hart what would make cars safe enough to drive fast. Everybody drooled over his Plymouth with the 440, but most of them were wrecked back in the day. The day just caught up to him and his driver. One car accident, no other traffic. What's your guess that somebody just did not know how to get his foot off the gas pedal?

Almost everything in the powertrain, suspension, steering, braking, safety, electronics has come from some person pushing the limits. Just like people going 25,000mph in a rocket.

His engine wasn't a 440, but that wouldn't have made a difference, driver error in my opinion.

Since I am somewhat of a speed junkie, I would love to have been driving, or piloting, it.

As Bugatti is part of VW group some of it's tech is probably already in "normal" cars.
As for specific last year this car also broke another record, zero to 400 kph, about 250 mph, to zero in 41 seconds. so the braking technology will probably end up in your car, that same standard version of the car has a top speed of around 260 mph but can also be driven at commuter speeds without any changes, that is engine management tech that can help your car run better at stop and go commute speeds. To keep a car on the road at those speeds, remember these are speeds exceeding F1 and Indy car , requires some serious stability control, that tech will end up in your bloated SUV.
So while very few car even look at these vehicles let alone drive them they do actually improve your little every day driver.
