The 500 mm probably has a tripod mount I’ve never seen one that didn’t

I'm not one to test limits, so I would hold the lens, as well as the camera.

True true. I regularly use my Sigma 150-600mm on my Sony a6000 without a problem using the two handed method. This is a carry over from old film days. You should never hold any heavy lens just by the camera itself. The light weight Sony makes it easy to just hold the lens and the camera will fallow as in on a mono or tripod. I have a cheep 500mm mirror lens that I have also used on my a6000. No problem. The mirror lens is very light (compared to my Sigma 150-600mm or my zeiss 24-70mm f2.8). Just use common sense and give the equipment all the support you can. The more support you have the less chance of motion blur and possible equipment damage.

I have a 500mm f8 mirror lens I would like to attach to A 6300 body. It weighs 585 grams w\OM to Fotodiox NEX-mount adapter. If I mount the 6300+ lens on tripod via the threads on the camera bottom will the Mg-alloy body take the stress? There's no tripod attachment on the lens.
I also have a micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8 weighing 560grams which may present the same problem for the small 6300 body when tripod mounted?
I realize both lenses will not have any contact with the 6300's electronics. Both lenses work manually with the 6300.

Some of the better mount adapters have a tripod mount on the adapter which can take the load off the camera/lens mount when using the camera mounting. You could also fashion a tripod mount on the adapter - DIY.
