I did the "Restart and update" yesterday, and now it wants me to "Update and shut down." I've never had two updates on consecutive days.

Sounds like the 1st update didn’t take so it’s doing it again.

No, it took because it changed My Files and My Pictures back to to Documents and Pictures.

Not as far as I'm concerned - but that's how I know the update "took."

I got the update yesterday. Didn't take long at all. Nothing changed on my PC. Everything is working fine.

Speculation in the tech world is there will be no Windows version beyond 10, just refinements. Microsoft doesn’t see big money in big change Windows development. Get this, some savvy folks predict that the next major update (if it comes) may be Linux based.
During the Windows update, certain files that are in use are tagged for replacement/update after a reboot. Upon reboot, additional files may be tagged for the same reason, hence the second reboot. This doesn't always happen, it kind of depends on the complexity of the update/upgrade.
