Here in the UK, it seems almost everybody has a smartphone young and old alike, they are universally referred to as a "phone". If I walked into my local pub or anywhere else for that matter and said to anyone "that's a nice looking smartphone" I would certainly get some strange looks.

Agree completely. I get all the other stuff on my 10" tablet. Much easier to read with my 72 year old eyes.
