I tried taking pics of the inside - it was quite beautiful - but the lighting and the large natural light window at that time of day was competing for attention. I did not get good pics ;)

I wasn't satisfied with these pics because I didn't feel I had captured the real beauty of the place - but that is usually the case with such a vast landscape (I only had my 18-55mm with me - the pano is really a cropped long distant shot lol)

Thank you so much! There is a road that goes up through some residential neighborhoods to get to the church. The landscaping is so lovely there and I believe the city has some strict building codes to keep the semblance of natural footprints - they do a good job.

Sedona is like 3 or 4 distinct neighborhoods.
Outside of "town", there's the indies and the arties. Then the scenery.
The perimeter of the town is "townies". Workies.
You gots your standard industry and professional strips.
Then your touristy places and people. Greasy spoon and gift shop types.
Ate at a place with Sedona theme named burgers, fries and drinks. Underneath a painted cow skull.
Day-glo hippie painted cow skull. Red glittered ping pong ball eyes cow skull.
Kewl.
Bring and drink a lot of water.

No...it's actually 89a. It goes up the mountain to a little town built on the side of the mountain, literally, called Jerome. Then continuers on to Prescott, which used to be the cheapest place to retire. At Prescott it hits 89, North to I40 or south to Phoenix. Beautiful drive... Jerome and Prescott both are geourgous towns with plenty of photo ops..

The road is at the base of the church. He shot from below, which does not show the road..... You can Google it and see many shots of it...... It's a wonder.

I love Sedona I try and go as often as I can and every time we have guests from out of town that's our favorite trip your Chapel of the Chapel is one of my favorite places to go.

The colloquial name for the agave is "century plant" because it was thought to live 100 years and then bloom and die. Maybe some species do, but most do that within 20-40 years. Maybe the flowers open up overnight, but it does take weeks if not months for the stalk to grow. Maybe our Arizona members can add info about that!

I have been there several times, and the mountain scenery in the area is beautiful. I cannot believe someone the other day said to skip Sedona. You do want to go back, don’t you?
