My Trip Out West - Sedona, AZ

My daughter was moving to CA and I didn't want her to drive out by herself so we planned a week long trip from Nashville to Pasadena. We tried to hit as many spots as we could while still having some personal bonding time but I was able to still get a little photography in.

Even though Sedona wasn't our first stop, it was my favorite - what an absolutely gorgeous place - I will plan to stay more than one night here again (and bring my tripod) :D

Hope you enjoy!

Interesting tidbit from a local - this particular Agave plant can live up to 35 years and when it flowers, it is in it's last stage of life within days! They say you can literally watch, with time lapse, an agave plant stalk grow & flower overnight!

Nice set! Thanks for the tidbit on the agave plant. That one building set into the rock is great architecture - not distracting from the scenery but adding to it.

Nice Set of Images. I've never been to Nashville or Sedona, but I used to live in Pasadena, CA. There are a numbers of Colleges there. Fuller Seminary, Pasadena City College, and of course the world famous California Institute of Technology. Your daughter moving to Pasadena for school or work or just because? Pasadena has grown a lot since I left in 1988. Now they have public RR transit to Los Angeles and to Covina.

A friend of mine photographed the church from the inside as well. A really odd place for a church one would think.

Sedona was just talked about in another thread here. Some said skip it. Your photos say different....

I've been there and you are right. It is beautiful... If you drive South on 89 it it's just as good without the crowds..

Your last pic is a church built into the side of the mountain. There are also a couple of mansions there that are worth a look...

A great series. Love the flower shots too.... And the pano. Thanks for sharing a few photos of just one, probably the most popular, red Rock canyons in Arizona.

Finally! Some good shots of the Sedona area! Not wild about the town as such, but the setting is killer. Thanks for killing it, Fawn.

These are absolutely gorgeous. How do you access the church? You managed to not show roads.
