In some neighborhoods amazon wants an app to unlock your door deliver your package inside your house and then lock your house. REALLY? Who thought of that idea?
The other problem with ordering stuff with amazon. I like to touch and feel what I am going to buy sometimes. I like to see what it is made of. Can't do that with amazon.

Did the local hardware store not have a sink strainer?

Forty-five minute round trip drive, followed by a long walk each way because of the parking situation. I doubt they have it. Even Lowe's doesn't carry it. I like this type.

I recently return a small item(abt. $7.00) without any prepacking to UPS, they scanned the printed return voucher gave me a receipt for it and by the time I returned home my account was credited for the return. Time UPS to back home about 35 minutes.

Yes, they issue a credit as soon as the package enters the UPS system. I ordered (online) 3 32 GB flash drives last night. They arrived by 12:00 PM today!
Truly amazing!

I recently had a defective item which I returned using the Kohl's option. Fast, easy, and very quick credit to your account.

This is strange. I bought two sink strainers for a new kitchen sink. The sink I finally bought needed just one strainer, so I want to return one. Amazon gave me several choices. I can bring the strainer into town to the UPS store. They will box it, print a label, and ship it - no cost to me. Or, I can put it into a box of my own, print a label, and drop it into a UPS pick-up box. That would cost me $5.99. Although this seems strange, easy returns are one reason why I don't hesitate to order from Amazon.

I returned a refrigerator filter to Amazon. I ordered the wrong one. My options were to print the label they provided and drop it off at the USPS or to take it to my local Kohl's Department store and they would box it, and send it back to Amazon free. Both were free. When I took it to Kohl's they just needed to see the code that was emailed to me via my phone and by the next day Amazon refunded the money.

Kohl’s has partnered with Amazon as a return location.

True....but I think it’s at select locations.

I’ve used UPS to return Amazon purchases and the refunds were immediate. It seems like the refund is triggered once UPS accepts the package.

When I returned an item recently, the refund was credited (I'm sure) before the item left the UPS Store.

One of the issues with the great service we get from Amazon is if
the purchase is small sending it back doesnt always make sense.
But think about. You can find strainers, the right filter for your frig etc.
I hated going to stores. Some people like to run to Home Depot not me.
On the downside this Amazon is having a huge effect on our economy
and stores who sell retail. Time will tell how this effects us.

I believe it will mean the demise of most retail stores as we know them. We are now going into a new frontier of selling goods. I also, being crippled, no longer go to stores, and if it weren't for my wife, I would now order online and get my groceries delivered.

Where do you live??? You are right that would be a long trip. I guess a sink strainer has importance. I'll have to remember to take a look and see what we have.

I returned something supplied by Amazon from a third party. The third party charged a restocking fee. Amazon made up the difference even before I could request it. Can't beat that for service.

I'm an Amazon junkie. I order a lot from them. UPS or Fedx deliver and when I have to return an item they pick it up at the house and within a day i have my refund.
I live up a dirt road and i only go to town about once a week. Then I go to Costco and get a hot dog and a coke for $1.59

And a free re-fill to drink on the way home.

I ordered 4 wheels for my car. Amazon said these will fit your car. I could not double check as I was 1500 miles away. The wheels were from a third party. The wheels were the wrong size. The third party took them back but I got stuck with $85 shipping. Third party said not their fault as they shipped what Amazon ordered. Amazon refused to do anything. Just referred me to third party.
