Coffee and politics just shouldn't be mixed.
The receiver of a hot mug just might not get over it very soon.

When I was a kid, I remember my mother using a coffee brand called 'Gills Hotel Special'. I don't think it's even available anymore.

Now that you mention it, I don't think what my grandpa's (whom I lived with) coffee had a name. I wonder where it came from ....

I have been buying my coffee for the past few years at the coffee bistro near my house. It has excellent coffee which they roast themselves. Last week, however, I happened to have a cup of Folger's. I had forgotten how good Folger's was. I'll have to keep a little Folger's around the house along with the gourmet blends.

For you coffee freaks. I have found the best containers for keeping either ground coffee or coffee beans fresh. They're made by a company called friis. I have two and keep two different coffees to choose from.

I had been buying the "expensive" stuff for quite awhile...even had been ordering mail order from Costa Rica.
But, about a year ago I ran out and tried the Folgers "Black Silk" We've been buying that ever since.
It's pretty good and less than half the price.
What a surprise!

There is a container which looks like this but is better because it doesn't require changing the one-way valve. I have two of them.

I love Folgers Black Slk. Great taste and low acid. There are some really good dark coffee from Alaska I used to get some years back but just stick to Black Silk now.

Costco carries an excellent Columbian coffee in the bean. They carry a variety of others, including coffees ground by Starbucks. I won't touch the Starbucks stuff simply because the few times I've been in Starbucks, I've found their coffee to be inferior and overpriced.

I can get the Starbuck taste by making a pot of coffee and leaving it on the burner for a few hours till it loses all resemblance to coffee.
