Don’t be disappointed with the sunset shot. It’s off the charts great. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the comment & encouragement Lastcastmike. I have to admit that while I was hoping for one of "those" sunsets you occasionally get to see when the entire sky lights up, it was pretty amazing being there ... especially since there were few people at that time (I try to travel off-peak) ... it was quiet & breath taking. Thanks for the comment ... I appreciate it.

You are absolutely correct ... when I stood on the edge at the overlook, it made me feel small. It's almost hard to take it all in because there is so much to see. Thank goodness for cameras to capture it for continued enjoyment. Best to you.

Having been to Canyonlands, your series brings back good memories. Thanks for sharing. Mesa Verde needs to be on my bucket list.

Thanks for the comment & I whole heartedly support the goal of getting to Mesa Verde ... I've been several times & each time, I get the same feeling of awe at what the anchients created there. Hope you make it soon ... it's well worth the drive. And if you are looking for a "different" place to stay, go to the Retro Inn ... it's a wonderful Rt 66 themed motel. Best to you.

I think the last photo shows a water gathering pool that gave the tribe their "then" needed hydration that poured from the overhanging cliff. Such is the changing climate that happens on Mother Earth around every 10,000 years or so.

Thanks for the comment boncrayon ... you may be right however I seem to recall the ranger said the round structures at the front of the buildings were Kivas which were used for religious ceremonies. But that's only as good as my memory, which isn't always correct. You are absolutely correct about them gathering water off the cliffs ... I remember hearing the 1st time I visited, that the stone is porous, so they would capture water as it seeped through the rock. Ingenious. Thanks for taking the time to view & comment. I appreciate it.

Thanks OneShot1 ... that's a pretty strong comment ... consistent & fitting of your Avatar I might add!!!! And I appreciate it ... I should probably have rephrased my description just a bit ... it was a beautiful sunset ... & the surroundings were wonderful. I just had this hope in my head for one of those very rare evenings when the entire sky lite up bright & colorful ... after we'd been chasing sunsets the entire trip & never got a great one. And can you imagine one of those kind of sunsets in a setting like the Green River Overlook? But you are right ... it was a beautiful sunset ... which I tried to capture & hopefully did it justice. Really like that spot. Best to you.
