I'm on board for the Sony HX99...like to see more shots with this camera ...24 to 720 all the way out. How long have you been using it?

He meant that there is no walk around camera. Whatever camera you have regardless how big and heavy can be the walk around camera.

That too!

Looking at the shot of the woman with all that gear, I'm sure that it was all a gag to pose for her portrait. I can't imagine anybody schlepping that much gear for a single shoot.

These were taken today at Yankee Stadium. Our seats were all the way down the 1st base line, just before the bleachers. Rather than take anything large, I took my Sony RX100 VI, which fits in the cargo pocket of my shorts. Shot at full 200 mm. The top is ISO 800 so that I could shoot at 1/1000, next is cropped, no editing other than cropping. 3rd image is ISO 200, 1/400, 4th cropped, no editing.
So, good enough? For me, it does the job.
I don't use my iPhone 6 for photography unless it's an "emergency," and I would have no idea how the new cell phones would do in this situation. However, my iPhone 6 is due to be replaced. Input please from anyone with a new cell phone on its capability would be appreciated, especially if you can reply with examples.

Being I relise what you mean by "walk around", you have a good choice.

*In the last photo, it looks like a fraction of a second later the umpire caught a hardball in the mask. LoL

Ya do what you gotta do to make sure you get the shots . . .

When you are out shooting in the field, and your car is 7 miles away, you bring a big bag and you fill it. If you are at a sports venue, and you have to go to security to get to your car, you bring your stuff with you, and wear it because if you put it down someone will likely take it. Ditto for wedding venues and many other situations. Better a sore shoulder than not being able to complete an assignment because you didn't wear it and it was stolen.

Bottom one is me again . . .

LOL What the ... was this in the film days when you couldn't change film and just grabbed another camera? LOL These folks are going to end up with back problems.

It's all about balance -

In the film days I had more bodies than I do now, but more because I found myself shooting in color and black and white. And the assistant was charged with keeping the cameras loaded and ready. Sometimes we did the Pike Place thing - using Nikons instead of whole salmons.

I did have two cameras back then to also shoot in color or B&W as some shots had so much distracting color in them you'd never look at the subject. Unless someone worked for a business, how could you ever afford to have that many cameras. And for me, I'd probably drop one of them. That's okay if they belong to a business but not so if it were my camera and long lens, might bring about a tear or two.

So Gene did you shoot sporting events as a professional photographer? Honestly I've never seen lenses so big as those you've shown us! I'm certainly not a professional, more of a enthusiast with a passion. It's funny that we complain about the weight of our gear and seeing these guys carrying so much, it's very humbling.
