Forget the details of the car-very nice motion shot! I'd be interested in knowing your shutter speed, etc.

I don't think the stats are that important. These were shot as the sun was going down in the evening between about 8PM to about 8:20 PM EST in rapidly changing light with the sun behind me and intermittent clear to cloudy sky. I was panning with the car following whatever speed it was going, some very fast and some slower.

I stood in this spot and practiced shooting the regular traffic for about an hour trying to determine the best settings and which lens to use and at what mm. My 70mm-200mm brought them too close, so I chose my 16mm-50mm zoom set at about 35mm on my APS-C Sony A77.

I started with the camera set at ISO 200 but had to adjust as the sun was setting. My shutter speeds ranged from 1/45 sec to 1/500 sec. Most were shot in continuous drive mode, capturing about 3-4 frames per car as they went by.

In total, about 150 shots of about 30 different cars. Some turned out pretty good, some were terrible. Obviously not all keepers and maybe 10 better than average shots.

This is my second year at trying this type of shot, but it is rewarding to me. I like them better than seeing all the cars crammed in together with their hoods open and mobs of folks standing next to them. However, sometimes that's the only way to get any shot of the car, so I do that also.

That said, this particular shot was at 1/125 sec, ISO 200, f 5.6.

Thanks to you and all the others for looking and for your comments. More to come.

nice pic of a nice car.

I had a red '68 Camaro SS 350, new the end of '67. Looked like that same red, except mine had a white stripe around the nose. After I wrecked it, I had that stripe replaced with a pair of white stripes over the top from nose to tail (would like to post a pic but I think it is against the hog rules to post a pic in reply)

Probably not. The standard on an 67' RS was either a 230ci straight-six or a 327 V-8. the SS had the 396ci V-8 & the Z28 had the solid lifter 302ci V-8.

I had a 350 in my '68 SS but they may not have had that engine choice in '67. The 327 was a sweet engine. In '68 they had the 396 in 3 different horsepower choices: 325 HP, 350 HP, and 375 HP (if memory serves me right on the HP numbers)

Loved my 69 RS 350/350 Tonawanda engine. Spun the tires in all 4 gears. Firestone wide oval tires, Spyder wheels, cherry bomb dual glasspack mufflers. Somehow never got a ticket (did get a warning once).

Nice photo! My cousin had a 396 Camaro ('67 I think). I've still got my '67 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 4 speed manual (I got it new in July '67) which has been sitting in my garage since around 1984 waiting for me to restore it.
