Hi Group,
In an effort to get off the month subscription, I recently purchased ON 1 software. It does everything the advertisements claimed except it is very SLOW in doing so. It is definitely not going to replace PS CC subscription for me. Question: Have any of you switched to Luminar? What are your thoughts regarding that program? Take care & ...
I have had it for a while and like the program. My major complaint is tec support. Have to send email vs. talk to some one in person. Takes way to long to address the issue. Keep hoping this will change.
I’m in the same boat. Following.
I use ON1 and don't have issues with it being slow. Maybe it's your system?
I have Luminar and Like it very much.
Hi kpmac,
I've installed ON 1 on two computers. One is Windows 10 and the other is Windows 7. It is slow on both machines while PS CC is quite fast. ON 1 is especially slow when using the clone-stamp and healing brush tools. Anyway, thanks for your response. Take care & ...
I use both as plug ins for LR v6 but really like Luminar. I didn’t buy into Adobe’s monthly billing.

I also like Luminar but I use it occasionally as a plug-in to PS/LR. I find Luminar can give me looks I could not produce in PS or LR because of a lack of creativity on my part.

I also use the latest version of ON1 - on a normal fast Windows 10 computer - and have had no speed issues.

I am running both on an iMac and have no speed problems whatsoever.
I have PSCC and LR both on subscription. I also have On1 raw and find myself using ON1 more often than LR. My only complaint about On1 is the clone stamp, I do find it not as quick as PS. As far as the LR Clone stamp it really sucks, but if I am mass editing I will use LR.
I use it on Windows 10 and have no speed issues.

I have been using On1 since V7. I have been using Photoshop since V2.5, released in 1994 (I think). I use them both together pretty much all the time, along with Lightroom for cataloging. I don't see me giving one up for another any time soon. Check back with me next year, though.
Luminar is a disaster. You have 3 of the best photo editing programs available at any price. You pay for the license to use them. You own "nothing" other than permission. You either pay monthly for LR/PS (but you can pre-pay annually if you'd like), or annually, for On1 since you buy in initially, then add another $70-$80 a year for upgrades. It's the same thing - either way. Both are good values. Adobe's stuff has a more refined workflow and consistent performance, On1 has amazing presets and filters, and a very promising raw converter and ever improving workflow. And they all play nicely together in the sandbox. Getting anything else will most certainly involve some compromises. I'd stick with what you've got. Free/cheap isn't worth the cost.

I use ON1. In May, the company released version 2019.5. For some, myself included, as robust as it is/was, it was also buggy and promised performance enhancements weren’t apparent to me. I also experienced numerous crashes. But for some users, they didn’t experience issues. What was ON1’s response to all this? Well, they just released a maintenance update to 2019.5. I can’t speak to Luminar. As for Adobe’s CC, it’s acknowledged to be awesome, but I just can’t drink the kool-aid yet.
