A very sharp photo of a humminbird in flight.
I spent all day taking photos of this hummingbird. Yesterday there was a male, but he did not show up today. If you look at it's eye, you can see four of the Godox flashes I used.
The is the last photo I took today. It was getting dark.
Dave that is beautiful. Love the color mix of the bird, the bokeh and the contrasting background. Very nice capture indeed. I saw our first hummer hit the feeders yesterday.
wish i could take pics like that, that looks great
Great picture! What was your lens and setting ?
I have a hard enough time just doing these little hummingbirds. I worked for over 10 hours yesterday, trying different things and making small changes just to get these hummingbirds! I decided I need to buy one more flash to better illuminate the background. This will give me a total of six flashes!

A good lens helps but it could be done with almost any lens. It's all about the flashes. In this particular photo I used 1/250 seconds, f/22, ISO=400 and a 600mm lens with a 1.4X TC attached. Five Godox flashes were set to 1/128 power. It takes a LOT of dedication! I have held classes in my house where I invited people to take pictures using a remote control to take there own picture using my equipment.
See my above reply.

Do you have hummingbirds where you live in Alaska? I think parts of Alaska have them all year long.

A lot of people are saying the hummingbirds have been slow to show up this year. I think I only have two in my yard.
Fantastic download! So sharp he looks suspended in mid-air.
Great shot with very sharp detail!
I can’t even get those guys to come to my feeder. One of the great tragedies of my photo career is I haven’t managed to get one single good picture of a Hummingbird in flight. So, that makes me incredibly envious of your shot. Luck comes to those who work hard. You who have accomplished this have earned your results!
