I agree Gene51. When we go on a trip and want to show others the events it's easy to just move the files to a flash drive and attach to the TV and set it to slide show. The TV room is geared more for a group to view rather than the little space around my computer. And everyone in the family can run the TV and even the flash drive I use is set to be a plug & play so you don't have to unmount it from any device.

I bought an all-in-one computer (no tower, and you can put away the keyboard and mouse so they don’t need to be out) which runs photos as a screen saver. I can also run individual folders as slideshows. For example for my granddaughters graduation I ran the folder with pictures of her from birth to graduation, interspersed with “congratulations”.
The advantage of a computer is larger size than most e-frames, and ease of changing the show. Sometimes I run old family photos, and other times I have only wildlife. Or I can run everything. When I have company I run photos I think they will like. Sometimes I run a slide show of pictures that I’m trying to decide what post processing is needed.
One possible drawback to a display is that it distracts people from the conversation and they interrupt to ask questions. Make sure the photos are up long enough for others to turn and look to see what photo they asked about or commented on. I find that 15 seconds is good for “background” pictures. In our retirement community we found that running a slide show on a projection screen at receptions encouraged older, more frail people to stay longer and interact more because it provided something to talk about.

You can pick-up used laptops for very little money. The screens are good size and just plug them in and turn on the screensaver.

Look into getting a moderate sized TV to dedicate to your show. Most new models are relatively cheap and have at least one USB port. Display in continuous mode.

And it runs continuous in the background when not being cast to, I think, because every time I select the input for my Chromecast on my TV, it is running..... Or starts real quick..... So, when not watching it can be set to the Chromecast and slide show.. If you don't want to use your big screen like I do, just buy a small smart TV and put it wherever.

What Gene was saying is to connect a chrome cast to the TV. It will run a slide show from your computer over the net. I do the same thing. Works great.

my computer connects wirelessly with the TV (Blue tooth) and it plays everything, my music playing and photo's showing... pretty cool.

Did not like most photo frames and the really good ones were very expensive so I bought a 34 inch 4K TV at Best Buy, ran a wire from outlet box inside the wall to the proper height to another outlet box with recessed plug, hung the TV in the middle of my framed prints and turned on my slide show.

With TV's being so cheap now I was thinking along the same lines. Which TV did you settle on?

I don’t what kind of digital frames you guys are using, but the ones I have had, and seen in many others homes are small, not bright, and generally lost in the decor. Certainly not how I would want to display my beautiful photos for others to enjoy.

I wish to make a slideshow of my 15,000+ photos to play continuously in our home. Any ideas? Thanks much!

Even my own mother wouldn't sit still for a 15,000-photo slide show!

I have put pictures on a Flash Drive and on the newer TV's you can insert the flash drive and start your slide show.

digital photo frames are expensive for what you get. Do you use a 10" screen on your computer? Why would you want to display your photos on that small a screen?

Use a TV.

Choose OLED tv as they need no backlight and are very thin.
