First you need to decide how you want the images displayed. With a digital frame, there is the issue of not being able to get enough memory into it for all the images which should be considered. This will be determined by two factors - the maximum storage capacity that can be inserted into the digital frame, and the total amount of storage space your 15,000+ take up. Resizing all of your images to take up less space may be a solution, but you will need to do the math to see if it is feasible.
Just like extra resolution is a waste for online posting, it's even more wasteful for a digital frame / background slideshow. My most recent digital frame arrived with no documentation. But, online I found the screen resolution in pixels and sized the long-side of all my images to that size. At 85% JPEG quality and selecting only landscape-oriented images, the file count for the resulting JPEGs is virtually unlimited onto a 32GB SD card. I have a custom LR Export based on a collection I just add new images into as I complete trips / edits. I somethings rerun the entire export (after I have added and / or added (removed) historical images). Or, I just sort by date-added into the collection and export just the newest images. My export also renames the files to 8-char file names (based on a counter). Reading some comments online, it seems the simple 8x3 file names cause the least problems for the frames. The images display based on the capture date of the images, so it doesn't really matter what the file names are updated to.
