Get a grip - no one said anything about a static economy.

You have an unpleasant habit of misrepresenting another person’s intent and then railing against the straw man you created.

Read a book...
about common courtesy (and one about integrity while you’re at it)

Does "Yup" mean you agree that the middle class pays the price of tariffs and that it will not affect immigration? That is NOT what your beloved Liar in Chief says...

The immigration problem is not going to be fixed With economics tariffs.
The one has to do with immigration, how to manage people leaving their own country in desperation to find a better life; and the other has to do with establishing economic superiority in a global economy.
Apples and oranges.

Really? How about the pressure placed on congress to get off their collective A$$es and fix our laws? How about the threat to Mexico of losing much of their newly found manufacturing base?

Actually you did reference a static economy, although you seem to lack the expertise to realize it.

Although true that the consumer will pay the initial tariffs, that payment will set on place a chain reaction.

1 - Buyers of tariffed goods will seek lower cost replacements.

2 -Domestic producers, and producers in nations with more favored trade agreements, will receive favored a price advantage.

3 - Nations with less favorable trade agreements will either continue to lose market share, or return to the negotiating table hat in hand.

Read a book.

The are two sets of tariffs. The goal of the Mexican tariffs is to compel Mexico to impede illegal immigrants from crossing our borders. The goal of the Chinese tariffs is to reduce China’s manipulation of our trade relationships.

While the goals are different, the result will be the same... a regressive tax on Americans. Once consumer prices are increased to pass along increased costs, those increased consumer prices will very likely remain in effect when the tariffs are removed.

A second problem is the effect on farmers. As China finds alternate suppliers of food, our farmers’ market share will likely be permanently reduced.

That brings to mind another thought and that is the fact that our gov't subsidizes farmers to produce crops that we can not remotely consume here at home. Talk about gov't support of private business.

The “Read a book” thing has gone stale, and should be replaced with another derogatory quip.

Don’t hate on me because the left refuses to learn.

That being said, thanks for admitting that you find suggestions to learn as derogatory.

Keep leftists talking and they always confess.

When tariffs are removed will prices be lowered?

Highly unlikely? What data is that opinion based on? Provide links please.

You are very short sighted. Put the tariff on Mexico. We don't buy the imports, Mexico suffers, we can wait it out, they can't.

Liberals continually cry, stand up for your country once in a while. Sick of whiny liberals full of doom and gloom.

Generally I don't support subsidies, I think that most farming subsidies are wrong and I especially hate the forced use of ethanol, however in this instance I fully support subsidizing farmers who have been directly harmed by the trade dispute with China.

When an agreement is reached, the tariffs go away, remember?

You need data to support that supposition?? LOL!

BTW, huge drops in crude prices this week...how's that working out for the consumer? Conversely, the mere hint of issues causes immediate increases. The moral of the story is that it's no big stretch to assume that we'll never completely return to normal.

I did not “hate” on you. I only suggested your mantra needs to be refreshed.
But, in truth, your tired “Read a book” thing was an insult implying that the receiver was not informed, ignorant; not a sincere, well-intended suggestion “to learn”. There is a difference.
