When tariffs are removed will prices be lowered?

Highly unlikely....

The effect of the tariffs will be a tax on the middle class; with no effect on immigration.
Apples and oranges.

Yup, and congress could fix this over lunch.

Does "Yup" mean you agree that the middle class pays the price of tariffs and that it will not affect immigration? That is NOT what your beloved Liar in Chief says...

Is the middleclass the only group paying for the tariffs? So far we have not seen much impact from the tariffs already in place other than the retaliations from China, the fact is that everyone pays when those costs are passed along but that has not happened as of yet as China devalues its currency and subsidizes their manufacturers to help absorb the costs of the tariffs, but eventually you are correct we will pay, but are we not already paying a big price with the unfettered and unaccountable i*****l i*********n into this country? Are we not paying through the technology theift and c***ting that China is currently doing not to mention the limited access to their markets?

Such a selfish position you take John.

When did President Trump say that tariffs itself will affect immigration?

The immigration problem is not going to be fixed With economics tariffs.
The one has to do with immigration, how to manage people leaving their own country in desperation to find a better life; and the other has to do with establishing economic superiority in a global economy.
Apples and oranges.

My position on US politics is not selfish. It is simply that Trump is NOT the person you should have as your leader. He is a liar, as you have just acknowledged indirectly, and that is only one of his many faults as a leader and even as a human being. In all of the arguments pro/con Trump people get wrapped around the axle in issues, trying to justify why it is OK for him to still be president because of policies. Keep your arguments about issues -- I care not. Republican or Democrat in power -- I care not. Just put a decent person into that office.

The economy is not static, believing that it is is a common error of the left.

Read a book.

So why hasn’t Chinese tariffs on US goods crushed the Chinese?

So you support the Chinese plan.

His Mexican tariff policy is his way of addressing immigration, is it not? The intent is that this will force Mexico to get tougher on its southern border to limit migrants coming to the US/Mexico border.

What do YOU think Trump was trying to do with the tariff policy?

BTW, if that is your only bone to pick with my statement, then implicitly you agree that the cost of tariffs will be borne by the US, not Mexico (or China)... which is NOT what Trump repeatedly states. He lies, plain and simple.

The are two sets of tariffs. The goal of the Mexican tariffs is to compel Mexico to impede i*****l i*******ts from crossing our borders. The goal of the Chinese tariffs is to reduce China’s manipulation of our trade relationships.

While the goals are different, the result will be the same... a regressive tax on Americans. Once consumer prices are increased to pass along increased costs, those increased consumer prices will very likely remain in effect when the tariffs are removed.

A second problem is the effect on farmers. As China finds alternate suppliers of food, our farmers’ market share will likely be permanently reduced.

Thank you. Your brief explanation makes sense to most of us--but not all.

This country is so far gone that Trump’s supporters care nothing about his honesty, decency, his total lack of a moral compass, his example to our children and the world. He is a life-long con man, who successfully conned this country—-with no understanding or respect for t***h, or integrity.
That is what we have elected as our leader.
The Republicans Senate has sold their souls for this charlatan, and will be remembered in history for their less-than-patriotic decisions.

All sad for our grandchildren.
