I have a tripod, and maybe I should have been using it. These pictures are pics that I had taken at least 5 to 7 years ago, and with a heavy, Nikon FE camera body, and a 50 mm lens. I have retired this camera body and all the lenses I had because the cost of processing a single roll of fill got more expensive than I could handl.

There is a layout in the LA County fairgrounds in Pomona called the Garden Railroad. It has trains running on the weekends and during the LA County Fair. It has been in the current location for 68 years and at the Fairgrounds for 72 years. There are currently over 10,000 feet of track in an area about a city block long.

You mentioned that this layout is in Pomona, California. The Union Pacific RR just finished the restoration of one of the biggest, or the biggest steam locomotives that had ever been built. This is a Big Boy class engine, and it had sat in a park in Pomona for decades before the UP decided to take it back to Cheyenne, Wyoming where they spent about 5 years restoring it for operational, excursion service.
This one is #4014, she is 132 feet in length, if you include the fuel and water tender. and she weighs 1.2 million pounds. And the UP had her back in operation on the 1st of May. This class of engines were design to handle freight trains, a mile in length or more up some pretty steep grades.
