What is a good wide angle small zoom for a full frame Nikon ? Looking to shoot landscapes. Using on a Nikon D800. Also has anyone heard any reviews on the new Tamron 35 to 150.
Also after a new lens comes out do they go on sale or is their a rebate on them or does it take about a year for this to happen

Suggest you consider the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and at B&H for $846.95. I have had one for several years and taken it to many places around the world. Used it on both the D3 and the D810. I also have a lot of Nikon pro-glass, but most often it is impossible to carry multiple lenses. This 28-300mm lens IQ is quite good, although not as good as my better lenses. The 10X zoom range covers most anything I have needed t photograph. Have never had problems with dust or environment even in the Costa Rican jungles.
If you decide to buy one, but sure it is one have the VR II rather than VR I. Also, if you buy from B&H, get their payboo credit card and get an instant sales tax rebate.

Sorry, never heard of that particular lens, but you were asking for a wide angle zoom, so if you like Tamron lenses, they make a fine 15-30mm/2.8 wide angle zoom!

I have not seen any reviews on the new Tamron 35-150mm yet. It's supposed to be released any day now. I'm interested in that one also. I have their 45mm f/1.8 SP VC prime lens. The great thing about their SP series prime lenses is that they all have vibration compensation. They also have a metal lens barrel and are fully weather sealed.
Tamron's 15-30mm f/2.8 G2 lens is another one of their SP (super performance) lenses. It's very highly rated. It also has vibration compensation and is fully weather sealed. The seals are not only at the lens mount but also throughout the lens.

I would suggest going with the Nikon 24-70 non VR lens. If you need wider, Tokina makes a 16-28mm lens for Nikon. The price is good ($579) and it gets good ratings.

My go to Nikon lens for landscape with my D850 are the Nikon 16-35 f4, followed closely by the Nikon 24-120 mm f4, I use these both because they have the same filter size for my filters.

I highly doubt you will see any rebate or sale this year since it just came out last week. Haven’t seen it’s little sister 17-35 go on sale yet and it has been out for a while. I currently enjoy my Tamron 28-75 constant aperture f2.8. No VC but really haven’t had a need for it. Not a super wide but does a fairly good job and very sharp.

I have not seen any in depth reviews for this lens yet. I have the 17-35mm already, so I am actively following this lens. I really doubt that you will see any price reductions soon unless it just isn't selling.

That 24-120 is a great choice, if it could
quaify as small .... kinda borderline as
to whether any given user calls it "small".
For me, at least it's smaller, cuz I'm also
using the beastly 28-300 :-)
Thinking about smaller, the VR works so
well that for some users it will result in a
smaller kit by eliminating use of a tripod.

Rayjenks, we have several great Tamron lenses. A couple of personal favorites in the focal length you mention are older, nothing wrong with older lenses that were made well. The Tammy 18-200mm and 28-300mm were both purchased from Adorama in 'E' grade for about $100 each, and they've been good performers. As long as the lens has been properly cared for in 'E' or above, you could be pleased with them. The 18-200mm is seldom available but the 28-300mm seems to appear every month or two.

The OP has a full-frame Nikon D800.
The 18-200 is NOT a full-frame lens.
