Some of my shots from Sicily last October. I really had no idea what to expect there. Like many others, I think my mental images were limited to a few brief scenes from The Godfather. What we found was an exceptionally friendly people and amazing scenery. Sicily has been at the tail-end of Italy's economic development for decades which means there are many opportunities to find an old world charm for those willing to explore.
Comments, feedback, reminiscences are welcome and appreciated.
Super-enjoyable series, Phil. All beautifully composed, giving me a strong sense of place.
I was there in 2006, thanks for the memories.
Wow....Phil these are so powerful and so ancient looking and you are right about our thoughts on such a place. But the words don't do it justice like your photos just did. Nice Job Man !
Nice photos, Phil--and interesting.
Neat shots.
Thanks for the tour.
Great shots to give us the flavor of the place! There is a"Detective Montalbano" PBS series filmed in Sicily. You can even book a tour based on the fiming locations!

Excellent and interesting series Phil.
Nice photos that brought back memories of one of best trips my wife, friends and I have ever experienced. We did get to Corleone and the mafia archives, which has now been closed, it was a fascinating yet sobering experience but we found the people friendly and delightful everywhere else. Our trip was in 2008. I would recommend a trip to Scilly.

Wonderful photos - thanks for posting...
I was stationed at Naval Air Station, Sigonella, in 1971. Made it to Palermo for a couple of days but didn't really get a chance to see the rest of the island...
Nice posts of a slice of life in Sicily..has a old world slice of photo pallets that bring back memories for some and entice others to go visit the charm of a true Italian experience ... thnx for posting ..
