Shotgun for home defense. AR15 will go through walls so if you live near other people that may not be the wisest firearm choice - but a damn sexy one at that.

All USA citizens shall own and be trained to use firearms and shall always carry a loaded handgun, concealed or open, in public for self-protection and for the protection of others.

We have far more domestic enemies currently beyond the commn criminal.

Do you plan to do battle with the US Army or the US Marines ?

With the polarization of the political climate we currently have and the hopelessness of any compromise, the only chance we have to get representive government back in the hands of the people is through revolution as stated in our Declaration of Independence. So I want no government regulation or control for the type of weapon I may chose to defend myself!

see Snopes re Australia. I think you will find your info is a bit flawed.

I really do not care about all those other countries and their gun laws. They have absolutely no bearing on the US. Each culture decides on how it will enforce its laws.

Two very good examples of Gun Ban is:
#1 Mexico - only the criminal has more than a "simple" shot gun to hunt with - the criminals have all they want - not just from USA but left over from all the wars in Latina America as well as smuggled in from other countries in Europe & Asia.

#2 Australia is the most recent country to ban gun - violent crime has "JUMPED" because the criminals know the honest people have turned in their guns.

Be informed not misled.
see Snopes re Australia. I think you will find yo... (show quote)

If you read the entire Snopes "report" you will find that they are just massaging the numbers to match their liberal bias.

Try this article published 4 days ago.

There are dozens of articles on Google talking about the increase of violent crime in Australia since the ban and only Snopes claiming they are all wrong.

Do you plan to live in tyranny, or freedom?

TEd you need a longitudinal study to have any validity for a social stat.

see: http://www.aic.gov.au/statistics/violent%20crime/victims.aspx

note some up some years some down. seems to have no correlation to gun control.

I served with some Aussie troops and noticed that some had their chevrons pointed up and some down. I asked the Sgt Major why? He replied some likes em up and some likes em down.

Kinda like their crime stats.

Same in the US some years one category up and some years another is up and the former up is now the down.

In my mind no semi automatic rifle should be considered an assault rife. That is for fully automatic rifles only and is illegal to own most everywhere anyway. I have what looks like an AK 47 only it is a ssemi automatic known as a MAK 90. I think that is what most semi automatics look like anyway. Can't tell the difference from 10 feet away.

I didn't make up the numbers, just reported them. Even you link doesn't show a tremendous decrease in anything. Slight downward trend in homicide but everything else is way up.

I do agree with you: they do what they do and we do what we do.

Firearms NYPD

New NYPD officers are allowed to select one of three 9mm service pistols: the SIG P226 DAO, Smith & Wesson Model 5946, and Glock 19.[28] All are modified to a 12-pound (53 N) trigger pull.[29] Prior to 1994 the standard weapon of the NYPD was the Smith and Wesson Model 64 DAO (Double Action Only) .38 Special Revolver with three or four inch barrels. This type of revolver was called the Model NY-1 by the department. From 1926 until 1986 the standard weapons of the department were the Smith and Wesson Model 10 and the Colt Official Police .38 Special Revolvers with four inch barrels. Prior to the issuing of the 9mm semiautomatic pistol NYPD Detectives and plain clothes officers often carried the Colt Detective Special and/or the Smith & Wesson Model 36 "Chief's Special" .38 Special caliber snub-nosed (2-inch) barrel revolvers for their easiness to conceal while dressed in civilian clothes. Officers who were issued revolvers prior to the transition to semi-automatic pistols on January 1, 1994, are "grandfathered" and if so can choose to continue to carry a revolver as a duty weapon.

I particularly liked the quote from Solzhenitsyn.

For me, my Glock 30 w/2 extra mags and my old Rem 870 w/"deer barrel" for back up constitute my militia gear.

Dpn't forget your high intensity flash:)
