I have been following UHH for a couple of years now and enjoy the topics and pictures. I am a hobby photographer that does not get to get out nearly enough. I have embarked on a project without really knowing where it will go. We are having a school reunion (50th) in June and I have requested all attendees to take pictures all weekend with whatever they have and send them to me. Purpose is to do a photobook of the weekend for everyone. Question is has anyone ever done this before and where should I turn to get the book printed. I have no idea how many pictures I will get and the quality will be irrelevent, but I would like to get as nice a book as possible without breaking the bank and get a quick turnaround. Do these printers send to each individual or just to me? ......what have I got myself into?

I'm not an internet kind of guy, but have you considered creating a web location and have the images up loaded to that location. Then you and everyone will have the images and can download what they want, including you. Then if you want later you can create a book and sell it to those who want it.

Now, for a rather off beat suggestion for others, (Perhaps you but you don't say where you are) there is a company home based in San Antonio Texas called DF Goldbeck and Sons. These are the guys that do panoramic group portraits. They charge NOTHING to do this! They hand out cards and YOU contact them by phone or internet and they will sell you the panoramic portrait. You don't even need to have been there or alive when the portrait was done! They sell the New York Baseball group portrait for winning the World Pennant way back at the turn of the last century. And, you can get that photograph now, a year later or a century later. Their in business to sell, that is how they make MONEY.

Good idea with the website. That way everyone can see all the pictures and make their own book. May be the best solution because of time limits. Thanks.

Cost more, but Adoramapix makes the best books that I have seen.

"what have I got myself into?"
I think you may have stepped in it. Try Shutterbug.

Great idea. It's like wedding receptions that give every guest a disposable camera. I would suggest doing at least a bit of processing.

I've had good luck with Adoramapix, and they often have sales. I never use their templates, preferring to set up my own pages.

Ditto for Shutterbug - I have done 10 books with them and like the quality. Watch for frequent sales.

I too have used Blurb to print my photo books and have been more than pleased with them!
I have never used their templates for my photo books but have downloaded their BookWright software and put in full-bleed pages. It gives me total control over background colour, arrangement of photo's and placement of text and decorations.

I always use Blurb. Lots of book choices and you can do soft cover or hard cover. Excellent quality.

A couple of people have said Shutterbug...I cant find anything about Shutterbug for doing books...I use Shutterfly.com and have made several books of various topics...Mainly i do my travel books in an 11x14 size with max number of pages, which I think is about 110. They would be very expensive if not for their sales...the one i wait for is the 50% off with unlimited number of free pages over the minimum number of pages....It runs about $40.00...

You can also develop the book and give people a link and they can view the book online or order their own...
