I have used Blurb for several years and have been very satisfied ! One plus is that you can export directly from Lightroom into Blurb. Saves a lot of time.

I made a photo book with Snapfish years ago, but it was a difficult learning process. It did come out really nice even though I was using a small 12 mp P & S camera. Last one I did was on my Chromebook where Google suggested a collection of photos from a recent trip to Easter Island. So I just took their suggestions and had them print it up. It came out good although a couple of the photos were just stupid that I never would have chosen. I don't know who or what picks the photos. At least I didn't have to do any work or learn anything. If and when I do my next trip with my new travel camera I'm thinking of putting the pictures on Google Photos (cloud) and making a book from there. It' s easy to transfer to Google Cloud on my Chromebook. Why not? Then I can show them from my phone anywhere I go or view them on any computer.

Last month I was sent a email coupon from shutterfly which was offering me a free 8x8 photobook. This photobook would contain 20 of those images I've selected to appear within the book. Doing all this online, you're able to add text and organize the images based on a few templates. I literally threw this book together without really thinking about it and actually the book wasn't free, there was an 8.90 shipping charge. But if I had purchased it the book would have cost 17.45 plus shipping. Waited 10 days to get the book. the turn around was extremely fast and the book was way better than I had expected. Needless to say I really surprised my wife with her anniversary gift. My suggestion, is tell everyone who shows up if they want a copy of your book to make a donation to help have the book created. get their names, addresses etc and order the book in bulk which would be cheaper.

I have used Apple (back when Aperture was current), Shutterfly and Costco. Even with a discount with Shutterfly, I found that Costco's book was cheaper for the number of pages that I used, and its quality was excellent.

I make photo books for myself at least 3 or 4 times a year of my travels for about the past ten years. I have used different companies to print the books. The photo books are big projects, going through literally thousands of photos, picking the best, weaning them down, photoshopping each one and making a book. Making the books take longer than the two or three-week vacation did. It is a very nice idea but you probably have a very big project ahead for yourself. It probably will be a lot more work than you thought. I wouldn't do it myself. Posting them all on a website and letting the participants download the photos they want sounds like a much better idea to me. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
