Stupid things you've done while using your camera.

In the 70's I had Big Foot, an Alien, Loch Ness, and Yeti, all meeting in a cleaning of the woods. I approached stealthily until I had them all in my view finder. I slowly squeezed the shutter. NOTHING, I WAS OUT OF FILM.
And when you returned, they were all gone, right?

I have never made a single error. All my shots have been perfect, allways have the propper lens on the camera. Camera is always over my shoulder. Please Buy this bridge???

I took some shots of birds at my feeder today using single point autofocus. They turned out to my liking, mostly. Then I went out to shoot the sunset and never changed the AF setting. I'm sure you can imagine the results. Doh! Aah, well... I've got lots of other chances. It got me thinking though.
I'd be interested in reading about the faux pas of other members. I know mine isn't the most substantial or least common mistake. Please do share if you're so inclined.
I left my lens on the desk in front of the printer. Later, my wife needed to print something. The tray came out and pushed the lens off the edge and onto the floor. OMG! That was scary. Thankfully, the lens still works fine. Whew!
When your subject tells you that you might want to take off the lens cap.

Film leader in the film days, or strobe batteries, batteries and memory cards with digital, grabbing a Sony/Minolta A-mount Tamron/Sigma lens for one of my Nikons & vice versa (that is mostly old guy not looking twice), though I have both mounts in same lens model, each mount/brand has it's own set of shelves, and shouldn't be on the wrong shelf!!!) Settings aren't usually a fail (easy to rectify, and many alternative settings have a button assigned). The camera bodies always have a favorite lens already mounted, so even if I grabbed the wrong bag, I could still operate till I run out of battery/cards.
These are rare though, I usually do just fine 98% of the time. Alas, I was never one who could be called "perfect"..........
Left it on a bus on Martha’s Vineyard☹️
Fortunately, with the assistance of a concerned bus driver and a very helpful woman at the MVTA, I got it back😊

I'll never admit to making a mistake. They were all "experiments."

Thanks jerryc41. They are great dogs huh?

Yikes. I can see me doing that. Disaster narrowly avoided.
I actually let go of my camera recently after I thought I had the plate locked in the ball head clamp. Fortunately the plate is arca-swiss and was settled against to furthermost jaw so it didn't fall before I grabbed it.

Film days. Forgot to check for film in camera thus missing pictures of Ken Griffey Jr. at the trop. My one and only time I got to see him play. He is now in the hall of fame.
Ooooh. That would certainly sting.
Glad you folks are having fun with this thread. I'm surprised the Jersey Devil and Abominable Snowman haven't posted yet

Glad you got it back!
Thanks,
It was really stupid on my part. We’d been out all day and stopped for a drink and after we left the restaurant I realized I didn’t have it. Went back to check...no luck...so I figured I must have left it on the bus. Of course, “lost and found” was closed by this time so I left a message: make, model, lens, etc. Didn’t sleep well that night but first thing in the AM I got a call that the bus driver had turned it in. The surprising thing was this happens 3 or 4 times a week there and it’s always good cameras...probably because most people use their phones😊
