Hi! Newbee here. I buy all my photo related stuff on e-bay and have never had a problem. Just use your head, if it looks to good to be true, it is. Just my 2cents...

B&H Photo, Adorama and KEH are also excellent choices with good prices and outstanding service (a must for an online site).
I've purchased from all three with nary a problem.
I would never buy/sell off of Craig's List....
I read about people getting a good deal on a used camera, stating that it only took X number of pictures. Where is this odometor on a camera? I have a Nikon D-60. How do I find out how many pictures I took?

I would say B&H. They go by cameras sold per hour, not by day, week, or month. Their prices tend to be near the lowest, and their service is second to none. I have funneled a HUGE amount of money through them. If you do HUGE orders, you can get a rep and even cheaper prices.

What would be the best places to go online to look for a camera body? I am not opposed to refurbished if it is from a reputable business. I'm thinking a Canon 60D. I don't need the lenses.
B&H and Adorama are out to please!!
Both are great on returns too
They have e-mailed me the return FED-x shipping label
I agree the best bargains are on eBay, with the caveat you have to be careful. If I am looking for a camera body, key phrases are "used only a few times," "hardly used," "used once and then stored," et al. Actual shutter actuation count is very important, as "hardly used" is very relative.
Look for very high ratings. A very high percentage of satisfied customers is important, but I also read a sampling of the comments.
Finally, I review the ad. If it's written by someone with very strict attention to detail, the ad wouldn't have misspellings or grammatical errors. A neat ad writer probably takes care of his equipment.
Happy shopping.
This is far from being a "done deal". I am just in the research and thinking about it mode.
Goldengatebill! For lack of a better idea, why not just check the last pictures you've made with the camera and look at the frame number - then add about 5% to the number. You'll probably be in the ballpark with the figure!

The only true market value is on ebay... Buy at one of the stores is paying retail.... Been buying on ebay allmost from day one... Always get what I consider a good or great deal......
people on ebay try to get too much for their stuff... i've seen used cameras on ebay priced for more than than new ones...
Cool thx.... I'm giving it a try..... weird ... results read "It looks like your camera doesn't supply the necessary information". .... oh well..... guess Canon Rebel Xsi doesn't have that feature on it.
Always wanted to know that but these utilities do not work with my camera. I guess I will start counting my photos again.
Search for "shutter actuations" on this web site-- or google it.
