What would be the best places to go online to look for a camera body? I am not opposed to refurbished if it is from a reputable business. I'm thinking a Canon 60D. I don't need the lenses.

I like Amazon - unless the item is in short supply, then the jack their prices. I have had good luck with Samys.com.

B&H Photo, Adorama and KEH are also excellent choices with good prices and outstanding service (a must for an online site).

B&H has a refurb 60D, for 799.95 body only. There are also several with differing lens combos, at higher prices of course, all refurbs. B&H is a highly reputable dealer, and gives a 90 day warranty on all used, and refurb purchases.

AnnaZ, the best place to buy that camera would be directly from Canon. Go to <shop.usa.canon.com>, the 60D is in stock and I'm pretty sure they are still on the "loyalty" program. That means if you send them an old, not working, garage sale $1 Canon point and shoot, you will save a few hundred dollars more. Not to mention you will get one of those famous, controversial white boxes! I do hope you take advantage of the loyalty program.
Happy shooting

I've been buying and selling on ebay for over ten years without a problem. The worst thing that has happened is the buyer didn't pay - so I didn't send him the item, and I relisted and sold it.

I never bid on a camera on ebay unless I know the shutter count.

I ask the seller and include this info, so he can get the count. It's not always possible with Canon cameras. If they don't geve me an accurate count, I don't bid. Saying, "It wasn't used much," means nothing.

I got a D70s with under 400 clicks.

Shutter Count

*Get Irfanview (free) and also get the plug-ins for it. Start the program, open a photo, click on Image > Information > Exif info.
*Get ExifInfo - also free. Unzip and get the icon onto the Desktop. Find a photo and drag it onto the icon. A window will open with loads of info. Look down the list for Shutter Count (or whatever they call it).

*Canon try http://www.ideiki.com/astro/ Look toward the bottom of the page, and you will see that it shows the shutter count for Canons.

========================================Only if you're stupid....

#1. Always pay with credit card... Even when using Paypal...

#2 Ebay (Paypal) has a money guarantee against bad dealers who skip out (which is rare)....

#3 Always pick a dealer (or the one selling ) that has a 100% ( or very close to that ) rating approval....

As a personal note, I have been buying off of ebay for almost twenty years and NEVER had a problem... I buy ALL of my photo gear ( and cameras ) there and even once brought a Caddilac too....

I bought a Buick, and Escort, and sold two motorcycles and a boat on ebay. What I like about selling on ebay is that in one week it is sold.

I got a Pentax Kx from buydig.com and it was brand new and still cheaper than what I could find refurb. Now that was a few years ago and I ended up buying locally in store when I upgraded in Feb (partly the "gotta have it now" syndrome and I got a heck of a deal on a display D3100 b/c online they said they had it in stock and then didn't)

I spent 2 weeks researching and asking the same questions. I finally found a great company. PMI Digital/Profeel, they are a authorized Canon dealer and will go out of their way to give you the best deal. They have a 10 out of 10 on resellers and a 5 out of 5 a another site. After researching and getting the best price I could on my Canon D5 mark III and the Canon Battery grip I contacted them and they beat it by a fair amount. This is the information on the person I dealt with David Burns
