I attempted to update my D850, but for some reason it will not work. I let the camera sit idle for over 2 hours, with the message saying "do not turn the camera off" or something like that. I still have ver 1.03 any suggestions?

I have watched your videos, they are very informative. Normally how long does it take for the update to finish. My D850 has been "updating" for at least 30 minutes. I don't remember other updates taking that long.

I updated mine and it worked fine. As I remember it to 20 to 30 min to complete. It might take a different length of time depending on your SD Cards speed. When I do updates I use a freshly formatted card totally clean to put the update on before I try to do the update in the camera.

After seeing this thread I downloaded and updated my D850.

Using an XQD card it took 2 minutes and 19 seconds.

I was updating from 1.03.

For those with issues be sure you only have one card in the camera and no grip attached.
After formatting the card in the camera only copy the file named D850_0110.bin to the root directory.

I updated my D850 with the Battery grip attached no problem at all, just be sure as was said to only have 1 freshly formatted card in the camera and a fully charged battery, did you read the instructions carefully before to started.

Doesn't matter, I have grip attached and two cards in. Worked fine, took just over 2 minutes.

Although this can sound daunting, it really is fairly easy. Be sure to follow the instructions. I have not done the latest D850 update, but I have done many, many others through the years. It usually only takes a few minutes. Steve Perry just released a video on the proper way to do this. Please check it out on his site for further information. Best of luck.

Hi there, See you have updated firmware successfully. Could you tell me if I can update from Version 1.00 straight to version 1.10 on my D850. Thank you in advance. Terry.

Personally I never skipped an update, so I can't answer that conclusively. If it were me, I'd do a step by step (Ver. by Ver.) being it takes about 3 minutes per update. Unless Nikon tells me I can... I wouldn't. There may be something in 1.03 that 1.10 feeds off of that 1.00 can't give. JMO

Yes you can! Nikon almost always includes all prior updates in each new one. Unless they state so specifically, you can skip update versions and will still get everything. If you haven't updated in a while, I would STRONGLY suggest that you check the update info to see what will be changing so you are not surprised. Best of luck.

You need to use the primary card slot. If you have an XQD card, use that one.

If you do not have an XQD card, you can use an SD card AS LONG AS the SD card slot is selected as PRIMARY! Best of luck.
