I use camera straps mounted to the tripod mount on all my cameras. I've never dropped a camera, BUT have had the strap catch on a chair, a railing, a rock wall.... Having a strap doesn't guarantee complete safety of your equipment. Give the guy a break, this forum is for learning not berating.

I always use straps, but when I fell in it did not mean very much

I believe judging is not the response needed for a learning type of forum. Hindsight is always 20/20 vision. We can all learn a lesson to be very careful with all of our equipment. I know I have had many close calls! I always protect my gear as best I can. Now have said that I am always up for learning lessons taught here in the forum. Keep up the good work positive people!

I learned (the hard way) that you check the wife FIRST if she falls on rocks with your new Nikon F2 around her shoulders.

You dropped your camera and lens. Hey, sh_t happens. The dropped camera and lens combination no longer work. However, a non-dropped lens attached to the dropped camera does work. Leads me to the conclusion the lens is damaged. To be certain, put the dropped lens on a different camera body. If things are still all grey you undoubtedly have a damaged lens.

What happened? I never dropped photo gear....not even when I was an epileptic 5 year old. Were you drunk, or just careless? Did a Bengal Tiger attack you as you were shooting nude photos of The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders? You should learn about these wonderful preventative inventions called 'Camera Straps'.

Geez lighten up. Have you never made a mistake in your life. Accidents happen. Give a little respect and get some respect. Uncalled for.

That's why I always wear waders when entering the forum. All of a sudden, a pissing contest breaks out, and it gets knee deep real quick. 😈😈😈

You are about as helpful as crotch rot. He who has never dropped anything has never handled anything.

You must be a perfect human being. How dare you insult people on this forum. Look in the mirror

I believe that Keen owes piedpiper an apology, that would be nice. We all may mistakes, don't we. Second that is what insurance is for, cover accidents.
